On October 18, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the National Innovation Center in collaboration with Samsung Vietnam organized the Multilateral Forum 2024, with the theme "Developing people and technology towards a digitally inclusive Vietnam".

The goal of the Multilateral Forum (MSF) 2024 is to promote multilateral cooperation and innovation through technological solutions to expand access, bridge the digital divide, and unleash human potential, especially for disadvantaged and vulnerable groups.

Sharing at the forum, Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor highly appreciated the theme of the 2024 forum, an issue that is being concerned, discussed and implemented by leaders of the Party, State, Trade Union organizations, business community and the whole society.

According to Mr. Phan Van Anh, the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the strong digital transformation trend have brought many opportunities but also posed many challenges for businesses, employees and the Vietnam Trade Union. In order to create the most favorable conditions for union members and employees to participate more deeply and effectively in the digital transformation process, to truly be the core force of businesses and the country in innovation activities, in the era of the 4.0 Revolution, the Vietnam Trade Union and all employees are deeply aware of their responsibilities and obligations to participate and contribute in participating in the development of laws and policies to encourage and support digital transformation activities for employees; raise awareness, access and use of digital technology for employees; encourage innovation and cooperation of employees based on digital technology at agencies, units and enterprises; promote comprehensive digital transformation in trade union activities...

“As an organization representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers in Vietnam, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor always strives and is ready to cooperate with relevant parties to discuss and identify issues that need improvement, propose effective and appropriate solutions to “Building people and technology towards a digitally inclusive Vietnam” to promote the digitally inclusive vision: “A digitalized Vietnam, where technology serves everyone’s life”, ensuring that no one is left behind”, Mr. Phan Van Anh affirmed.

At the forum, experts from policy-making agencies, international organizations, civil society organizations, academia and businesses discussed ways to promote digital inclusion through human development and technology.

The highlight of MSF 2024 is the launch of the InclusiveTech Initiative, initiated by the National Innovation Center with the support of Samsung Vietnam and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. This initiative demonstrates the spirit of serving society, with the motto: "Technology not only serves the advancement of a few but also brings value to the whole community". The main goal is to create a bridge between technology creators and disadvantaged groups, helping them integrate and develop, thereby promoting a fair and sustainable society through innovative solutions.

This year, the InclusiveTech for Social Innovation Awards honored 15 outstanding initiatives. The awards will be held annually to encourage and disseminate inclusive technology solutions that promote learning and collaboration while contributing to the achievement of the initiatives’ social goals.

Over the years, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has always paid attention to and directed trade unions at all levels to propagate and implement policies, resolutions and programs of the Central and Government, including Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW dated September 27, 2019 of the Politburo on "Some policies and strategies to proactively participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution"; Decision No. 749/QD-TTg dated June 3, 2020 of the Prime Minister approving the "National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030".

One of the four key programs of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in the 2023 - 2028 term is Comprehensive Digital Transformation in Trade Union Activities.
