In 2024, Quang Tri province implemented the socio-economic development plan in a context of many difficulties and challenges, but with the great efforts and determination of the Party Committee, government and people, the socio-economic situation of the province has achieved important results. The growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is estimated to increase by 5.97% compared to 2023.

Of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 3.37%; the industry - construction sector increased by 6.12%; the service sector increased by 7.04%. The economic structure shifted in the right direction with an increase in the proportion of industry, construction and services; a decrease in the proportion of agriculture. The economic scale is estimated at 53,508 billion VND; GRDP per capita is estimated at 81.2 million VND, an increase of 9.14% compared to 2023.

From the beginning of the year to December 15, 2024, the whole province had 358 newly registered enterprises, down 23.67% over the same period in 2023; total registered capital was 3,006.35 billion VND, down 50.82%. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in 2024 is estimated at 34,463.49 billion VND.

Regarding banking activities, as of December 15, 2024, capital mobilization in the province reached VND 40,630 billion; it is estimated that by December 31, 2024, capital mobilization in the area will reach VND 41,000 billion, an increase of 12.53% compared to the end of 2023. Total outstanding loans to the economy as of December 15, 2024 will reach VND 55,148 billion; it is estimated that by December 31, 2024, total outstanding loans to the economy will reach VND 56,000 billion, an increase of 8.51% compared to the end of 2023.

Total state budget revenue in the area from the beginning of the year to December 15, 2024 reached VND 4,349.69 billion, equal to 111.50% of the local estimate and increased by 28% over the same period in 2023; of which domestic revenue was VND 3,248.38 billion; revenue from import and export activities was VND 1,005.34 billion. Investment capital implemented in the area in 2024 (current price) is estimated at VND 25,063.48 billion, up 2.92% over the previous year.

In terms of social affairs, the average population in 2024 is estimated at 659,214 people. The labor force aged 15 and over in the province is estimated at 336,890 people. The estimated rate of trained workers in 2024 is 75.16%, of which 33.5% have degrees and certificates. The province has created jobs for about 14,700 workers, of which 6,299 work in the province, 5,367 work outside the province and 3,034 work abroad. The multidimensional poverty rate in the province by the end of 2024 is 11.53%, down 1.63%.

The new rural development program in recent years has had a positive impact, contributing to improving the lives of people in rural areas. Social security work has been given attention, so people's lives are stable, there is no hunger. Education, training, and health care have many positive changes. Cultural and sports activities have made much progress...

At the press conference, leaders of the Provincial Statistics Office, departments, and branches discussed a number of issues of interest to the press, requesting clarification, especially the specific explanation of the reasons for the increase and decrease in production indexes.
