On the afternoon of January 16, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha presented the Prime Minister's Decision on the establishment of the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong to the Hai Phong City People's Committee.
According to Decision No. 1511, dated December 4, 2024 of the Prime Minister, the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong has an area of about 20,000 hectares, oriented to be a multi-industry, international economic zone with development pillars of high-tech industry, modern logistics services, smart urban areas, eco-tourism and pilot free trade zones. Hai Phong City expects that by 2030, the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong will become the main driving force of the city's economy; connecting with neighboring economic zones, forming a chain of coastal economic zones, serving as the driving force for development of the whole region.
Hai Phong City expects the new economic zone to contribute VND550,000 billion to the local budget and create over 300,000 jobs for the locality. The establishment of the coastal economic zone in the south of Hai Phong is an important event, marking the beginning of the process of realizing development goals, creating new momentum for Hai Phong's growth in the future.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized: The Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong demonstrates the determination and internal strength of the government and people of Hai Phong City, a mark of a new era, a stage of development to a new height of Hai Phong City. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha noted that Hai Phong needs to invest in planning; ensure planning for smart city development, green and clean investment, while still maintaining the unique character of Hai Phong.
Receiving the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung assigned the City Economic Zone Management Board to urgently complete the master plan of the Southern Coastal Economic Zone; assigned the City Department of Planning and Investment to coordinate with ministries, branches and the Economic Zone Management Board to complete the infrastructure in the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of the city.
Also at the event, Hai Phong City People's Committee granted investment registration certificates to 5 domestic investment (DI) projects with a total capital of 79,425.52 billion VND (equivalent to 3.394 billion USD) and 6 foreign investment (FDI) projects with 125.15 million USD.
