On November 25, information from Hai Duong Provincial Police said that they had just issued a document requesting agencies and units to urgently review, inspect, and take measures to plug "loopholes" when using LED panels.
Recently, according to warnings from authorities about "vulnerabilities" and the risk of attacks on LED panels, the LED screens of some agencies, units and organizations in Hai Duong province have been attacked and their display content has been changed.

Bad guys have taken advantage of the fact that many units use old LED boards of unknown origin, allowing management of LED boards via wifi or management software using default, easy-to-guess passwords to edit, distort displayed content, post information that affects the reputation of the agency, violates national security, and causes disorder.
LED board at Cam Che Kindergarten (Thanh Ha District, Hai Duong) was broken into and had its content edited by a bad guy.
In the face of the above situation, to enhance information security and prevent subjects from taking advantage of LED board vulnerabilities to commit illegal acts, Hai Duong Provincial Police requested units to urgently review and check the origin of LED boards and change strong passwords (more than 8 characters including uppercase, lowercase, numbers and special characters).
Next, the management unit logs into wifi and LED board management software, and turns off wifi on the LED board device if only managed via wired connection.
When agencies and organizations install LED panels, they must carefully check the quality, origin of the equipment, and information of the installing organization or individual; and provide guidance and assign responsibility to the staff of the unit assigned to manage and operate the LED panels.
In addition, the unit must promptly detect and record any unusual incidents, cut off the power supply to prevent display to avoid complicated consequences. Regularly coordinate with the police in ensuring safety and network security for information systems and promptly exchange information system attacks and violations (if any).
Previously, Thanh Nien Newspaper published an article reflecting on the situation of some LED boards at educational institutions in Hai Duong province being hacked into by bad guys, editing and distorting the displayed content, causing public outrage.
