Northern Vietnam is entering the peak of the dry season, therefore, people need to be extremely cautious to ensure fire safety for themselves and those around them.
According to statistics from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, 50% of fires are caused by electrical short circuits.
To prevent fires and explosions caused by electrical overload, the Dan Phuong District Police ( Hanoi ) advises people to design and install electrical wiring systems according to standards and not to arbitrarily change automatic circuit breakers.
In addition, people should avoid using too many electrical devices at the same time and in the same outlet.
Residents also need to conduct regular inspections of electrical systems to promptly address any issues and avoid the risk of overloading that could lead to unfortunate incidents.
The Dan Phuong District Police noted that families need to be wary of other causes of fire and explosions such as charging electrical devices, burning incense, and cooking. Flammable items such as gas stoves and lighters should be placed in well-ventilated areas, away from other flammable materials.
Electrical appliances such as irons, rice cookers, and electric stoves must be kept out of reach of children and switched off when not in use.
Due to the characteristic dry and cold winter climate of Northern Vietnam, there is a need for heating devices such as heaters, fan heaters, electric blankets, dryers, and drying cabinets. These are all heat-generating devices that consume a lot of electricity and can cause electrical overload if not used properly.
Therefore, people need to be cautious when using these devices. Absolutely keep them away from children and do not place them near flammable materials.
According to the Dan Phuong District Police, motorcycles and cars are vehicles that use gasoline or diesel fuel. These vehicles also pose a high risk of fire and explosion; therefore, when parked indoors, people need to keep them far away from the kitchen.
The Dan Phuong District Police recommend that each family should equip themselves with fire-fighting equipment and products. These items should be kept in easily visible and accessible places to be prepared for and readily available in case of fire. Family members should also be instructed on how to use fire-fighting equipment to respond promptly in the event of a fire.
When a fire occurs, it is necessary to alert everyone nearby as quickly as possible and call the fire department at 114 for timely assistance.
For agencies and businesses, the Dan Phuong District Police require compliance with fire safety regulations. They must regularly conduct self-inspections of fire safety at their facilities, both unexpectedly and periodically. Agencies also need to focus on comprehensive inspections of electrical equipment, and periodically maintain and repair damaged equipment to ensure fire safety.
The Dan Phuong District Police recommend that agencies and businesses have strict regulations on compliance with fire safety regulations, and instruct their staff to turn off electrical equipment before leaving to avoid waste and ensure fire safety.
