Dong Nai police arrest suspect of kidnapping children and demanding ransom of 2 billion VND

On the evening of October 2, Deputy Director of Long An Police - Colonel Pham Thanh Tam said that the criminal police force had just successfully solved a child kidnapping case. In this case, the suspect demanded a ransom of up to 2 billion VND.

According to the Investigation Police Agency, at around 3:00 p.m. on October 2, at the kindergarten in Kien Phat residential area (Ward 6, Tan An City), a girl named LMC (3 years old, residing in Ward 2, Tan An City, Long An) was picked up by a man and then taken away.

After picking up the child, the suspect put him in a car and drove to Hamlet 6 (Nhi Thanh Commune, Thu Thua District, Long An Province). At 4 p.m., the suspect drove the child back to Ho Chi Minh City, then continuously used his phone to text the child's parents, asking them to quickly transfer the ransom of 2 billion VND.

Regarding the above incident, the Director of the Provincial Police - Colonel Lam Minh Hong and Colonel Pham Thanh Tam - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police directly participated in directing the investigation. After conducting a review, the Investigation Agency identified the kidnapping suspect as Nguyen Thanh Son (34 years old, residing in Hamlet 6, Nhi Thanh Commune, Thu Thua District).

Next, Long An Provincial Police quickly coordinated with the Criminal Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), Ho Chi Minh City Police and Dong Nai Provincial Police to track down the fugitive suspect.

At 9:30 p.m., suspect Nguyen Thanh Son was driving a car on National Highway 20 (Tan Phu district, Dong Nai province) towards Lam Dong province when he was stopped and arrested by criminal investigators.

At the investigation agency, Son stated that after kidnapping the girl, he took her to Ho Chi Minh City and took her to a hotel and left her there. The police arrived at the hotel and brought the girl back safely. During the night, the police brought the girl back to reunite with her family.

According to initial investigation results, the suspect is friends with the victim's father.
