Youngest son of late Singaporean Prime Minister seeks asylum in UK

(CLO) On October 22, Mr. Lee Hsien Yang said that the British Government had granted him asylum. He is the youngest son of the late Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, the founding father of Singapore.


In a Facebook post on October 22, Mr. Lee Hsien Yang said he had applied for asylum in 2022 "as a last resort," and the UK approved it in August.

Mr Lee Hsien Yang and his sister Lee Wei Ling, who died on October 9, were the younger brother and sister of Mr Lee Hsien Loong, who served as Singapore's prime minister for two decades until May this year.

Lee Kuan Yew, who died in 2015, was Singapore's first Prime Minister and led Singapore for more than three decades.
