Donald Trump Jr. is scheduled to visit Greenland on November 7 (local time) as his father, US President-elect Donald Trump, once again suggested buying the vast Arctic island.
The visit is a personal one, Greenland's permanent secretary for foreign affairs Mininnguaq Kleist said, adding that no meetings were scheduled with representatives of the Greenland government.
“We were not informed of his agenda, so this is a private visit,” Kleist said, adding that Trump Jr. is expected to stay on the island for about four to five hours.
A source familiar with the trip said Mr. Trump Jr. planned to make a day trip to film video content for a podcast and would not meet with any government officials or political figures.

Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark with a population of just 57,000, is rich in mineral, oil and natural gas resources. However, the island's economy depends on fishing and annual subsidies from Denmark, so it has grown relatively slowly.
Greenland's capital Nuuk is closer to New York than Denmark's capital Copenhagen.
"Greenland is always open and anyone who wants to visit us is welcome," Greenland's foreign ministry said in a statement.
President-elect Trump, who will be inaugurated on January 20, said his son and several other representatives would visit “some of the most beautiful areas and landscapes.”
On his social media platform, Truth Social, Mr Trump praised the island and promised to "make Greenland great again".
“Greenland is a wonderful place, and its people will benefit greatly if, and when, it becomes part of our nation,” he wrote.
Mr Trump expressed interest in buying Greenland during his 2017-2021 term, but was publicly rebuffed by the Greenlandic and Danish governments before any dialogue could take place.
Last week, Greenland's leader Mute Egede, in his New Year's address, emphasized the push for independence from Denmark to shape its own future, although he did not mention the United States.
Aaja Chemnitz, a Greenlandic member of the Danish parliament, said the idea of US control of Greenland should be rejected outright.
Two weeks ago, Mr. Trump said on Truth Social that “owning and controlling Greenland is an absolute necessity.”
