Black market ticket fever at Vietnam's final match in Thailand
Báo Dân trí•04/01/2025
(Dan Tri) - One day before the second leg of the AFF Cup final between Vietnam and Thailand, tickets on the "black market" have tripled in price.
The second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final will take place at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (January 5) at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok, Thailand). It is worth noting that the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) is selling tickets for this match quite cheaply, with prices of 200 baht (over 147,000 VND/ticket), 250 baht (about 184,000 VND)/ticket, 300 baht (about 221,000 VND)/ticket, 400 baht (about 295,000 VND)/ticket and 500 baht (about 370,000 VND)/ticket. Thai people are eager to enter Rajamangala Stadium to watch the final match (Photo: FAT). According to information from FAT, all 47,000 tickets issued to Thai football fans were sold out in less than 2 hours, from 12:00 to 14:00 on January 2. Nearly 5,000 remaining tickets (Rajamangala Stadium has a capacity of nearly 52,000 people) were issued by FAT to fans of the Vietnamese away team, guests, partners, and sponsors of FAT. The demand of Thai football fans to watch the second leg of the final at Rajamangala Stadium is so great that they are willing to pay high prices to own these tickets. Currently, ticket prices on the "black market" have increased 2-3 times compared to the original price. Thailand's Siam Sport newspaper reported: "The best area for fans at Rajamangala Stadium, which used to sell tickets for only 500 baht, has now increased from 1,000 to 1,500 baht (from about 740,000 VND to 1.5 million VND) per ticket. Thai Olympic champion Panipak Wongpattanakit is also "hunting" for tickets to watch the second leg of the final (Photo: Siam Sport). To satisfy the "thirst" to go to Rajamangala Stadium to watch the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final, FAT will place a giant screen right outside this football field. This is to help fans have a vibrant atmosphere around the field, as well as help reduce the demand for "hunting" for tickets of Thai fans. However, it seems that the hunt for tickets to watch the match between the Thai and Vietnamese teams has not cooled down. Even the Olympic champion of the Golden Temple country, legendary female taekwondo fighter Panipak Wongpattanakit, is also eager to get tickets to watch football at this time. The record-breaking boxer, who is the first Southeast Asian athlete to win two consecutive gold medals at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics, in taekwondo, posted that she needed to buy 7 tickets to watch the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final. Panipak Wongpattanakit said she was willing to pay a reasonable price to buy back 7 of the best regional tickets at Thailand's Rajamangala National Stadium, as long as they were not fake tickets. After the first leg of the final a few days ago, Thailand was trailing 2-1 to Vietnam. The risk of losing the Southeast Asian championship title is looming for the team from the Land of the Golden Pagoda.
