On March 23, the Russian Investigative Committee - the agency that investigates serious crimes - said the death toll in the bloody attack at the concert hall in the Crocus City Hall shopping and performing arts center in Moscow last night had increased to 93 people.
In a statement posted on Telegram , the committee said: “Currently, 93 people have been confirmed dead. The death toll is likely to rise.”
Terrorists set fire to a concert hall in a shopping and performing arts center using "flammable liquid" after they carried out a shooting rampage that left scores dead, Russian investigators said.
The Russian Investigative Committee stated: “Terrorists used flammable liquid to set fire to the concert hall, where there were spectators, including injured people.”
TASS news agency quoted the Kremlin's announcement on the same day saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko had a phone call and affirmed their readiness to coordinate in the fight against terrorism.
* Meanwhile, Interfax news agency quoted the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) as saying that the four suspects who caused the bloody attack were moving towards the Russian border with Ukraine when they were arrested on the morning of March 23 and had contact with the Ukrainian side.
According to the FSB, the attack was carefully planned.
In response to FBS, Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak on March 22 declared that Kiev had nothing to do with this attack.
* On March 23, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the attack, and stated that Beijing opposes all forms of terrorism and strongly condemns terrorist attacks.
Speaking on China Central Television (CCTV) , Mr. Xi stressed that China firmly supports the Russian government's efforts in maintaining national security and stability.
On the same day, the Afghan interim government described the shooting as a cowardly terrorist attack and strongly condemned the incident. Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs also had a similar assessment of the attack.
