'My husband's stepchild calls me aunt'

After 5 years of dating, 3 years of marriage registration and having a 1-year-old daughter together, MC Van Hugo and businessman Dang Hung Cuong officially held a romantic wedding on the beach in Phu Quoc on January 6, 2024.

"The way stepchildren address each other does not change after the wedding"

Sharing with VTC News about her life after marriage, Van Hugo expressed: "After the wedding, I feel happier and more joyful when I receive support and blessings from many friends and relatives."

She said that the two had been living together for 3 years before being able to hold a wedding for many reasons. Previously, in 2021, the two planned to hold a wedding but had to postpone it due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Then, in 2022, the female MC became pregnant and gave birth to a baby, so the end of 2023 is the most appropriate time for the two to hold an official wedding, receiving blessings from both families and friends.

Both husband and wife planned the wedding together so there was no difference between before and after the wedding. This wedding was like a final procedure to formalize their relationship. “Now I feel that my relationship is complete and happy.”

Van Hugo is happy when her marriage receives the support of her children.

The female MC confided that her current family is quite large, with 4 children. But luckily, the children all love each other, the older child will help their parents take care of the younger ones, so life is always joyful and happy.

She also surprisingly revealed that before and after marriage, the children of both husband and wife did not call each other father or mother but kept the same way as before marriage, Uncle Cuong and Aunt Van. Although they called each other like that, there was no distance in the family, because this was a familiar way of calling, so the couple did not force the children to change the way of calling each other.

“My husband and I don’t see any problem. We don’t insist that our children call us mom and dad. What’s important is the love we have for each other and that we live together in harmony and happiness.”

When they learned that the couple would hold an official wedding, both of their children were very happy. They even planned together to help their father give the ring, making the wedding very emotional.

The female MC feels that her family is also special, because usually couples get married and then have children, but her family has 4 children who got married.

For Van Hugo, the wedding is just a milestone in the long journey of a marriage. So after the wedding, her family life did not change much except for being more recognized by everyone.

Sharing about her husband Dang Hung Cuong, Van Hugo gave a lot of compliments. She said that her husband is very good, she herself also learned a lot from her husband in business.

Before that, she was not interested in business because she was not good at it. She also never succeeded in business until she met her husband.

“Since I met him, I feel like I have a solid guide. Not only in work, but also in daily life, he always supports me. The luckiest thing I have when meeting him is finding someone who can listen to me and share everything with me. We are so compatible that we can talk from morning to night without getting bored.”

She believes that even if the two lose the flame of love in the future, they will still maintain their relationship because of the harmony in their thinking and lifestyle. To her, this also plays a big part in maintaining a long-lasting marriage.

The female MC affirmed that only now does she know the taste of happiness when meeting the right person.

Sharing more about her current job after marriage, she said that she is currently quite busy with her husband's business. The two continue to expand the Hugo kindergarten system so they have to fly between provinces to work.

In the field of artistic activities, she chooses to follow the trend of "letting it be". Whenever an opportunity comes, she happily accepts it. "I have some new contract activities for 2024 in the role of MC. But at the moment, I do not dare to accept to participate in movies and television series because my schedule is quite busy, it is difficult to arrange a long time to go filming", Van Hugo shared.

The whole family will travel to the Northwest to celebrate the New Year.

Revealing to VTC News about her plans to welcome the new year, Van Hugo said that this year her whole family will celebrate the new year by traveling to the Northwest. Because she really likes to see peach and pear blossoms in the Ha Giang area, her husband and she discussed the schedule to celebrate the new year with their children there.

In previous years, the couple celebrated Tet in Saigon, but the weather during the New Year was often quite hot and stuffy, so she felt uncomfortable. “I have lived in the North for quite a long time, so I am used to celebrating Tet in the cold air, whether visiting relatives or going to the temple. Therefore, I still hope that this year the whole family can go to the North to celebrate Tet.”

When asked about being a daughter-in-law and taking care of both families on New Year's Eve, Van Hugo shared that since they first met, every year she and her husband fly to the North to prepare Tet gifts for both sides of the family . "We buy ornamental plants, cakes, and when everything is ready, we return to Saigon to celebrate Tet."

Personally, she also enjoys the time of preparing for Tet. For her, the days before Tet are truly meaningful and make her happy. After passing through New Year's Eve, I feel normal again.
