Billionaire Ho Hung Anh's daughter closes trillion-dollar deal to buy Techcombank shares

Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank, TCB) has just announced that Ms. Ho Thuy Anh, daughter of Mr. Ho Hung Anh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Techcombank, completed the purchase of nearly 82.2 million shares, from September 5-8.

After this transaction, Ms. Ho Thuy Anh owns 104.6 million shares, equivalent to 2.975%.

Based on the average price of TCB in the sessions of about 35,000 VND/share, it is estimated that Ms. Ho Thuy Anh spent about 2,900 billion VND.

During the time the chairman's daughter traded, the market recorded two sessions with extraordinary volume of TCB shares. On the September 5 session, the market recorded more than 37.4 million shares traded with a value of nearly VND1,204 billion. On the September 8 session, nearly 45.9 million shares were traded by agreement with a value of nearly VND1,531 billion.

At this bank, the family of Techcombank's Chairman is holding a large amount of shares. Of which, Mr. Ho Hung Anh is holding more than 39.3 million TCB shares, equivalent to an ownership ratio of more than 1.12%.

At the 2023 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Techcombank's Chairman predicted that TCB's value could increase 5-10 times in the future.

He affirmed that short-term investment for trading is not his forte. “The market will show the true value of Techcombank,” said Mr. Hung Anh.

Recently, many bank leaders have traded stocks. Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB) has just announced that Mr. Dang Quang Tuan, son of Chairman Dang Khac Vy, has sold more than 124.7 million shares. The transaction was conducted during July 21 - August 9 by negotiation.

Lien Viet Post Joint Stock Commercial Bank (LPBank, LPB) has just announced that Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy (also known as Mr. Thuy), Chairman of the Board of Directors, registered to buy more than 13.82 million LPB shares, from September 8 to September 26.

From August 1-8, Mr. Pham Le Viet Anh, son of Ms. Le Thi Lien, member of the Board of Directors, sold more than 2.13 million MSB shares of Vietnam Maritime Bank, by agreement and order matching.

Meanwhile, TNG Realty JSC, a shareholder of MSB, registered to sell more than 9.71 million shares from August 29 to August 31 by negotiation.
