(NLĐO) - Information has appeared on social media about Chinese tourists complaining about expensive food and additional charges at a restaurant in Nha Trang.

On February 4th, leaders of the Nha Trang City People's Committee ( Khanh Hoa province ) announced that they had directed relevant agencies to investigate information circulating on social media regarding a restaurant in the city allegedly overcharging Chinese tourists.

Previously, a social media account named MH claimed that while browsing the Chinese app Xiaohongshu, they came across this post from a tourist in Nha Trang.

The bill from AB restaurant (Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, Nha Trang City), dated February 3, 2025, was calculated at 7:49 PM, with very expensive dishes such as: grilled eggplant with scallion oil for 1,890,000 VND/portion; stir-fried water spinach with garlic for 500,000 VND per plate, so two plates would cost 1,000,000 VND.

Specifically, white rice costs 250,000 VND per serving, so two servings cost 500,000 VND; Tiger beer costs 100,000 VND, so eight cans cost 800,000 VND…

The total cost for meals was 15,724,000 VND, the "Tet holiday surcharge" was 4,717,200 VND, and the total amount paid by the customer was 20,441,200 VND.

The bill that a Chinese tourist posted on social media showed very expensive food prices, with a serving of plain rice costing 250,000 VND.

The MH account stated that tourists come to Nha Trang to experience the atmosphere and pace of life of the city, but they encounter such situations. They urged everyone to work together to preserve the beautiful image of Nha Trang in the eyes of foreign tourists.

The MH account also included information posted by Chinese customers complaining about the expensive food and the additional charges.

"What a thug! The tour guide made things worse after interacting with me. I'm not afraid of anything. I think I hit the lottery today. What should I do in this situation?" - translated post by a Chinese tourist.

MH's account expressed outrage on social media about being overcharged.

Leaders of the Nha Trang City People's Committee and the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Tourism said they have received information about the incident and will provide official information to the press after the investigation results are available.
