Colombia creates shock, beats Germany in second match

Germany 1-2 Colombia.

Germany played Colombia in the second match of Group H. They were rated higher but let Colombia take the lead early in the second half. Linda Caicedo opened the scoring for the South American team. This is the player who fainted on the training ground a few days ago, but then returned to training as usual.

In the 89th minute, the German team equalized on the penalty spot. It seemed like the match would end in a draw, but Colombia scored the second goal in the 90'+7 minute. Manuela Vanegas headed in a dangerous header from a teammate's corner kick to make it 2-1.

With this victory, Colombia took the top spot in the group with 6 points. Germany tied with Morocco with one win each. South Korea finished bottom of the group. In the final round, Colombia will face Morocco, while Germany will face South Korea.
