The Vietnamese player continued to surprise when he defeated qualifying champion Yu Li Si (Taiwan, China) at the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Open 9-ball pool billiards tournament on September 26.

The second day of competition (September 26) of the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Open 9-ball Billiards Pool Tournament saw player Luong Duc Thien defeat champion Yu Li Si with a score of 9-6. Continuing his winning streak, Duc Thien continued to win 9-3 against Luong Chi Dung to advance to the knockout round. Notably, Yu Li Si then lost 6-9 to Do Van Khai in the play-off match for a ticket and officially said goodbye to the tournament. This is the day of competition to compete for the remaining 32 spots in the top 64 knockout round. The round is played in a branch format, 2 losses, each match reaches 9 wins.

The world's top players such as Sean Malayan, Hijikata Hayato, Ralf Souquet, Darren Appleton, Anthony Gara, Albert Delgado and Mario He (world No. 17) all showed their class with 2 wins in all matches.
