For many years, veteran Nguyen Van Lan and his family in Bang Nghia village, Ngoc Lien commune (Cam Giang) have submitted a request for a with the Fatherland's recognition and annual incense money for "martyr" Le Van An. Mr. Nguyen Van Lan is the nephew and worshiper of Mr. Le Van An.
According to Mr. Lan's petition, Mr. Le Van An (aka Tien) was born in 1931, originally from Nghia Trach village (now Bang Nghia village), Ngoc Lien commune (Cam Giang). In 1947, Mr. An joined the commune's guerrillas and secretly operated within the enemy's territory, then died on November 16, 1952, when he was a member of the Ngoc Lien commune Party Committee.
At the Ngoc Lien Commune Martyrs' Cemetery today, Mr. Le Van An's name is at the top of the list of martyrs and his grave is also at the top. The fact that Mr. An's name is listed in the commune's martyrs' cemetery and his grave is also there, as well as the fact that the commune provides land to worship the martyrs and presents gifts on July 27th, is based on the memories of those who worked with Mr. An. In the Ngoc Lien Commune Party History, Mr. An's name is written and confirmed as a martyr of the commune.
According to the certificate of Cam Giang District People's Committee on November 28, 2005, Mr. An was posthumously awarded the Third Class Resistance Medal against France under Decision No. 20/CP dated May 29, 1963.
However, in reality, Mr. Le Van An has not been granted a certificate of national merit, and his family has not officially received the martyr's incense money.
On July 23, 2020, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Duong sent Document No. 2994/SLDTBXH-NCC to the Policy Department (Ministry of National Defense) regarding the search and extraction of martyrs' records, but to date the family has not received any results.
Because her parents died early in 1945 and 1946, Mr. An lived with his older sister, Ms. Le Thi Hop, born in 1917 and now deceased, who was a guerrilla in Ngoc Lien commune and also received a certificate of merit from the Government. Because Ms. An had no other siblings or descendants, after Ms. An died, Ms. Hop was the one who worshiped her. After Ms. Hop died, her son, Mr. Nguyen Van Lan, worshiped the "martyr" Le Van An.
Relevant units need to promptly look up, extract records and have a satisfactory answer for Mr. Lan's family.
