Massage facility caught red-handed 'increasing patient's penis size'

VnExpressVnExpress16/04/2024

Inspectors from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health conducted a surprise inspection and discovered that UCI International was "increasing penis size" for customers who only registered for sauna and massage services.

On the afternoon of April 16, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that at the time of the inspection, this facility, on Nguyen Van Cu Street, District 1, had two customers receiving consultation, skin care, and "penis enlargement". The doors of the rooms on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors were all locked.

The authorities asked the representative of the facility to open the door. The results showed that the 4th and 5th floors were where services were provided to customers. Each floor had a room with 3 beds and used products. The 6th floor had a cabinet for storing goods and cosmetics for customers. The facility could not provide invoices or documents proving the origin of the products and goods, so the goods were temporarily detained.

Checking the social networking site of this facility, the inspection team discovered postings of advertising content related to andrology services such as "medical standard male size increase", "full facial rejuvenation", wrinkle removal, face lift... Meanwhile, the facility was granted a Business Registration Certificate by the People's Committee of District 1 on January 18, 2024 for sauna, massage and similar health-enhancing services (except sports activities).

The Department of Health has suspended the facility and will impose an administrative fine of at least VND60 million. The People's Committee of District 1 has been asked to strengthen post-licensing inspections and strictly handle establishments that take advantage of this sensitive business model to provide illegal services.

Inspectors from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health also conducted a surprise inspection of the Saigon Shine Beauty Center in District 3, noting that the facility advertised male health services on social media, using a "penis enlargement" laser projector. The facility was granted a skin care business registration certificate by the Department of Planning and Investment and a dental clinic by the Department of Health. This was the second time the authorities inspected the facility in half a month, and the owner refused to sign the administrative violation report.

The Department of Health decided to revoke the practice certificate of this facility for 6 months and impose a fine of 132 million VND. The Department of Health requested the Department of Planning and Investment to suspend the business lines related to medical examination and treatment and skin care of this enterprise.

The Department recommends that when accessing advertising information on social networks, people should not immediately believe it but should carefully verify it through many different channels, especially the Department's Medical Examination and Treatment Information Lookup Portal to learn about the licenses of clinics and doctors, to avoid life-threatening complications. In case of suspicion that a medical examination and treatment service facility is unlicensed or operating during a period of suspension, contact the hotline 0989 401 155 or report it via the Online Health application.
