In March, the list of Vietnam's USD billionaires recorded by Forbes estimated Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang's total assets at 1 billion USD - just enough to be on the list of the world's richest people. However, in the two sessions of April 3-4, MSN shares of Masan Group also plummeted following the general market due to the impact of President Donald Trump's reciprocal tax policy announced with many countries, including Vietnam. MSN shares are currently at 58,000 VND, down more than 12% after two sessions. This caused billionaire Nguyen Dang Quang's assets to drop below the threshold of 1 billion USD.
However, there was also a floor-fall session, but yesterday, the trio of Vingroup stocks including VIC, VHM and VRE recovered and increased in price again. This increased billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong's assets by 172 million USD to 7.5 billion USD. In total, compared to the beginning of this year, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong's assets have increased by 3.4 billion USD.
Sharing the same downward trend in the past two sessions, VietJet Air's VJC shares fell more than 9%. This caused billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao's assets to decrease by 37 million USD, down to 2.5 billion USD. Similarly, Hoa Phat's HPG shares also fell by nearly 10%, causing billionaire Tran Dinh Long's assets to drop by 65 million USD, down to 2.1 billion USD. Meanwhile, billionaire Ho Hung Anh's assets fell by 53 million USD, down to 1.7 billion USD, after Techcombank's TCB shares fell by nearly 8% in just the past two trading sessions.
The list of Vietnamese USD billionaires announced by Forbes in early March had only 5 billionaires, 1 person less than last year, billionaire Tran Ba Duong - Chairman of Thaco Group.
