Reuters reported that the $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot has found its owner. The winning ticket was sold in the US state of Oregon.
This is the fourth largest prize in Powerball history and the eighth largest lottery prize in US history.
The winning numbers drawn on April 7 were 22-27-44-52-69 and the red Powerball number was 9. This was the 41st drawing since the last jackpot was won on New Year's Day, worth $842.4 million. Each Powerball ticket costs $2. The odds of winning are 1 in 292.2 million.
The lucky winner can choose to receive a lump sum of approximately $621 million before taxes or receive the entire amount, which includes an initial portion and 29 installments over the next 29 years.
In addition to this prize, there were 7 other winners of 1 million USD each in the states of Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan and Wyoming. These prizes only matched 5 white balls.
Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The largest Powerball jackpot, and the largest in U.S. lottery history, was worth $2.04 billion. The lucky winner was in California in November 2022.
