On August 14, at Triem Tay garden eco-tourism area (Dien Phuong ward, Dien Ban town), a workshop was held on the Hoi An - Dien Ban - Duy Xuyen tourism development linkage program with the theme "Green tourism destination - countryside, craft villages".
Many destinations, lack of unique experiences
In this area, there have been tours for a long time, the most prominent of which is the tour from Hoi An to My Son Temple Complex and vice versa, but it often skips the "midpoint" Dien Ban.
In fact, tourists coming to Hoi An often only spread out to suburban areas or to My Son and ignore many community villages in Duy Xuyen, Dien Ban such as Tra Nhieu, My Son, Triem Tay, Cam Phu...

This situation leads to overload during some peak hours in Hoi An Ancient Town, but many neighboring destinations in Duy Xuyen or Dien Ban are anxiously waiting for visitors.
According to travel businesses, the current limitation of community destinations in Dien Ban and Duy Xuyen is that most of the experiences are similar and do not highlight any unique elements.
Mr. Pham Vu Dung - Director of Hoa Hong Tourism Service Company Limited said that destination potential exists everywhere, but the important thing is to design different products so that the products are welcomed by travel businesses. This depends a lot on creativity, so localities need to encourage and create conditions for a start-up environment.

Mr. Le Sy Quyen - Director of Asia Pioneer Travel Company commented that designing the tourist experience is extremely important. Localities should have a specific roadmap and strategy to be ready to provide diverse experiences, associated with local values for tourists if they want to welcome high-end tourists instead of just a few simple experiences and a few souvenir products as at present. For example, the experience of the market because this is the place that reflects the breath of life of the village in the most authentic and vivid way that most tourists want to explore.

"Knots" that need to be cleared
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen - National Coordinator of the Small Grants Program of the Global Environment Facility (UNDP) said that there are too many things to develop tourism but do not know where to start and who will be in charge of the tasks.
Normally, tourism products are completed to 80% before tourism businesses start exploiting, but to go from zero to 80% is a problem and is very difficult. This requires sharing from businesses to actively accompany the community from the time tourism starts at destinations, then the chance of success will be higher.

"Except for Hoi An, which has developed tourism very strongly, Duy Xuyen and Dien Ban can find niche markets by promoting the creativity and cultural beauty of the people. The two localities need to take full advantage of opportunities from the national target program to develop infrastructure and pilot tourism models to lead and inspire the community to develop tourism," said Ms. Huyen.
Mr. Van Ba Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam said that these three localities have a lot of room to create tourism products with Quang Nam identity, but how to organize and realize them is still a matter of concern.
For example, localities can research and create a common product for Thu Bon river tourism and possibly expand it to Nong Son. However, the promotion of this product is currently facing many difficulties regarding wharfs, transportation organization, vehicle regulations, etc.

Mr. Pham Vu Dung commented that rural tourism or green tourism is often closely related to land factors. Therefore, the issue of using agricultural land associated with tourism is a "bottleneck" that needs to be cleared to take advantage of the landscape of many destinations.
Mr. Ho Quang Minh - Deputy Director of Quang Nam Department of Transport said that regarding the inland waterway sector, the department has advised the province to integrate it into the Quang Nam Provincial Planning but at a general level; as for points and wharves directly related to tourist areas, separate plans are needed because they are included in "sub-plans".
The Department of Transport will direct specialized units to soon coordinate with localities to include a specific implementation plan to remove obstacles in the inland waterway sector.
