Teacher inspires love of literature in ethnic minority students

After graduating with a master's degree in Literature from Quy Nhon University of Education in 2011, teacher Ngoc Chung returned to her hometown and was assigned to teach at the Quang Tri Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

Working in a special unit with 100% ethnic minority students, who used to study far from home, she understands the disadvantages of students here. Therefore, she carefully studies the wishes of students in the process of approaching the subject of Literature to research and innovate appropriate teaching methods, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education.

Besides, she regularly learns from experience, actively receives feedback from senior colleagues to continuously improve herself. With her enthusiastic heart, in each class, with an easy-to-understand way of communication, she always leaves a good impression on students with her engaging, lively, and creative teaching style.

“Literature teaches us profound humanity, how to enrich our language skills, and how to be sophisticated in life... Therefore, I often find ways to make my lessons interesting and create excitement in each lesson for students. In addition to the main teaching sessions, I often stay at school to spend time guiding and helping students study better. From there, I discover and nurture students with literary talents, motivating them to satisfy their passion for the subject they love,” Ms. Chung shared.

Ms. Chung also has many industry-level and provincial-level initiatives that have been applied effectively by colleagues inside and outside the school. As the deputy head of the school's psychological counseling team, Ms. Chung actively coordinates with colleagues to support and help ethnic minority students solve psychological problems and difficulties in studying and living. Thanks to the teaching and care in many aspects of this dedicated teacher, generations of students under Ms. Chung's charge are all obedient, studious and have very good learning and training results.

Ho Thi Chan, a student of class 12A4, Quang Tri Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said: “With her easy-to-understand and engaging way of conveying knowledge, we are very excited every time she has a Literature class. She always puts her love and passion into every class, does not create pressure in studying and taking exams, so all students enjoy it.

I am very happy to participate in the Literature training class taught by her and always try to do well in the exam. In the 2024-2025 school year, with her dedicated guidance, I was lucky to win first prize in the provincial Literature competition for excellent students. Ms. Chung is always close to and attentively takes care of the students in every meal and sleep, educating them in life skills and how to protect themselves.

Ms. Ngoc Chung was entrusted by the school board with the task of training excellent students in Literature. With this responsibility, she always strives to bring many achievements to the school in provincial competitions for excellent students in grade 12, typically: 2 first prizes in provincial team competitions in the 2022-2023 and 2024-2025 school years; second prize in team competitions in the 2019-2020 school year; third prize in team competitions in the 2021-2022 and 2023-2024 school years. The 12th graders that she taught and reviewed for graduation exams always achieved high scores.

Achieving such achievements for ethnic minority students is not easy.

With her constant efforts in work, for many consecutive years, Ms. Chung has achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level; in the 2020-2021 school year, she achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the provincial level; was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province for her many achievements in education and training; the Minister of Education and Training awarded a Certificate of Merit for her outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Innovation and creativity in management and teaching"; the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee awarded a Certificate of Merit for meeting the criteria of "Party member who has excellently completed tasks for 5 consecutive years" and many certificates of merit in teaching and homeroom work; studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh.
