The Red Rain film crew has just released a breathtaking trailer with every frame. The work is produced by People's Army Cinema, directed by Dang Thai Huyen, aiming to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Red Rain is a war-revolutionary drama written by writer Chu Lai, inspired and fictionalized by the 81 days and nights of heroic and resilient fighting by the militia to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972. Those 81 days and nights became a legend, one of the most vivid expressions of the Vietnamese people's aspiration for independence, freedom, and national unification in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

It was the fierce 81-day and night battle to protect Quang Tri Citadel that contributed to the victory at the Paris Conference negotiation table, paving the way for the great victory in the spring of 1975, unifying the country.

Red Rain Movie Trailer

The trailer begins with a flare, followed by the sound of bombs and bullets. Troops dive into the water, moving carefully and quietly across the river. The audience is given a look back at the intense, emotional summer of 1972, told through the youthful, brave faces of Squad 1 - young men carrying the enthusiasm of their twenties into the battlefield, with all their faith and ardent patriotism.

In the rare moments of rest on the battlefield, they still wrote poems and songs as when they were still in the classroom. Each person carried a feeling of nostalgia in their hearts, but when they gathered here, they considered Quang Tri their hometown, the Citadel their home, and their comrades became relatives. They were just students, university students or simple farmers, not used to holding guns. But when the Fatherland needed them, they still did not spare their blood and youth, steadfastly staying and protecting every inch of the Citadel. Some put their studies aside, determined to leave, some were not old enough, but still wrote letters in blood asking to join the army...

Then, as one by one they fell, the military doctor (played by Hua Vi Van) had to choke out: "Every day we lose hundreds of people."

The heroic song of the ancient citadel that year was written with the voice of the young soldiers charging into battle, with the sweat and blood of the young soldiers fighting for the Fatherland. They advanced because of a belief in independence and unity.

Most of the trailer's images are filled with smoke, bombs, pained eyes and fallen bodies, but in the end, there is still courage and determination through the determined words: "Let us go to battle, and we will have the answer!". Today's generation clearly knows that answer: that is Independence Day.

Large-scale film set restoration in Quang Tri for Red Rain

To recreate the historical context of the war at Quang Tri Citadel, the Red Rain film crew had to build a large-scale studio in Quang Tri town, Quang Tri province, next to the Thach Han river. A version of the citadel was recreated most realistically in terms of geography, with a system of trenches, tunnels, field meeting rooms, and also the location of surgical stations, defensive fortifications, etc. All were meticulously and elaborately restored, under the advice of veterans and witnesses who had fought directly here.

Red rain is the incense stick that today's generation uses to show gratitude, remember and show gratitude to those who sacrificed their youth on the battlefield, their blood and bones for the Fatherland, so that the country can have peaceful days.
