To treat the disease, Xiao Huang had to have one lung removed and was constantly in and out of the hospital. At this time, she was active on many social media platforms to share her daily life and the process of fighting the disease. Through this, she warned everyone that this is a disease that can attack anyone, even if you are young and do not smoke or are exposed to secondhand smoke.

"My sister was very strong and optimistic until the end of her days. She is no longer in pain, and I am relieved to know that she has been released," her brother said.

Warning signs of lung cancer

Prolonged cough

Coughing is an early sign of lung cancer. A tumor pressing on one of the bronchi, the main airways leading to the lungs, can cause a cough. However, when a cough appears, people do not need to worry too much. Because coughs can be caused by colds, respiratory infections, and usually go away after 1-2 weeks.

If the cough lasts for 2-3 weeks without any viral or bacterial illness, the patient should have his or her lungs checked as soon as possible to determine the cause of the cough.

Chest pain

Lung cancer can cause pain due to the following causes: tumor compression, bone metastasis, pleural effusion, etc. In addition to chest pain, patients may also experience pain in the back, shoulders, etc. with symptoms ranging from occasional, dull, to continuous pain. It is especially severe when coughing, laughing, or breathing deeply.

Furthermore, chest pain can be a sign of a number of serious medical conditions. Tell your doctor if you have any unexplained discomfort.

Shortness of breath

Lung tumors can reduce ventilation volume leading to difficulty breathing. Therefore, when feeling unusually short of breath, especially after climbing stairs, doing things that were previously easy, you need to pay attention.

Hoarseness

Lung cancer can change the patient's voice, it can be deeper and more hoarse than before. Hoarseness due to the common cold will gradually disappear after a short time, however if the symptom appears for more than 2 weeks, it is an abnormal warning sign.

Coughing up blood

Some patients will cough up blood if the tumor is near the bronchus. People with chronic cough, especially those with a history of smoking, have signs of a more persistent cough, cough up a lot of mucus and cough up blood or small amounts of reddish-brown sputum, this is very likely one of the warning signs of lung cancer. In this case, you should see a doctor immediately.

Unexplained weight loss

If you lose a lot of weight (4-5kg or more in 1-2 months) without knowing the cause, you need to see a doctor soon. Cancer cells need a lot of energy to grow, so they borrow from the body's reserves, causing us to lose weight without knowing the cause.

Lung cancer prevention

- Not smoking, or giving up the habit of smoking, can significantly reduce the rate of lung cancer.

- Have a reasonable diet, lifestyle, work...

- Regular health check-ups, especially when there are symptoms of prolonged cough, chest pain...

- Annual lung cancer screening.
