4 habits young people should give up to prevent cancer

Do not buy medicine on your own

Mai Linh said that in the past, she often had the habit of taking medicine indiscriminately, buying medicine based on symptoms without finding the root cause of the problem... Now she realizes that this mistake can cause her to use unnecessary medicines, especially possibly abusing antibiotics. For people with cancer, arbitrarily buying medicine and treating symptoms can be very dangerous, because the patient will skip the medical examination step and accidentally miss the opportunity for early treatment.

Give up staying up late

Working as a designer, Linh often has the habit of staying up late: "My job requires creativity, so I often like to work at night to increase concentration. However, after getting sick, I arranged to go to bed earlier because I know staying up late is very harmful to my health."

Eat scientifically

Mai Linh advises young people to cook at home and not to order food from outside because it is often unhealthy, such as fried, stir-fried, grilled, etc. At the same time, people should also give up the habit of eating at night because it causes weight gain and increases the risk of cancer.

"Eating late at night, eating fried food... are bad habits. Many people click their tongues and say, 'It's probably fine.' But I think the consequences will come sooner or later. Since I found out I have thyroid cancer, I've limited my eating outside and often try to cook at home," Linh said.

Give up the habit of drinking soft drinks

"After I found out I had cancer, I almost completely gave up soft drinks. Since I got sick, I have learned to value my health more, so I decided to cut down on unhealthy and unprofitable foods," Mai Linh shared.

Is papillary thyroid cancer dangerous?

According to medical experts, papillary thyroid cancer is the most common type of thyroid cancer and has the best prognosis among thyroid cancers.

Although thyroid cancer is a very common cancer in the endocrine system, papillary cancer is the most common, the disease usually develops slowly and can be treated with surgery.

Therefore, if detected and treated promptly at an early stage, this disease can be considered not too dangerous to the patient's health.

Symptoms of papillary thyroid cancer

Enlargement of the thyroid gland: This is a major symptom of papillary thyroid cancer. The thyroid gland may become larger and feel firmer to the touch.

Difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing accompanied by pain: When the thyroid gland is larger, it can cause difficulty breathing or swallowing, and also cause pain for the patient.

Hoarse voice: Papillary thyroid cancer can cause a tumor in the thyroid gland, putting pressure on the vocal cords and causing a hoarse or distorted voice.

Lymph node metastasis in the neck: The most common case is group VI lymph nodes that are solid, painless, and mobile when the lymph nodes have not invaded. Notably, about 1/3 of patients experience tumor spread through regional lymph nodes to the lungs.

How long can you live with papillary thyroid cancer?

Survival rates in patients can vary depending on the type of thyroid cancer. According to medical experts, papillary thyroid cancer usually has a good prognosis and the 5-year survival rate reaches 80-90%. In other types, the 5-year survival rate is only 50-70% in the follicular type, 40% in the anaplastic type and less than 50% in the anaplastic type.

Papillary thyroid cancer is a disease with no obvious symptoms, leading to patients often being detected late. That can greatly affect the treatment and recovery process. Therefore, to ensure the safest health, you should regularly check periodically or go to the hospital as soon as you feel any abnormalities in your body.

There is no way to completely prevent thyroid cancer. However, the following steps may help reduce your risk of thyroid cancer:

Ensure moderate iodine levels in the body

Consuming too much iodine or too little iodine will lead to the gradual formation of thyroid disease. Therefore, it is necessary to eat iodine properly in the daily diet, the amount should follow the prescribed standards, not too much or too little.

If you do not know whether the iodine content in your body is within normal limits or not, you can go to the hospital to check and do tests to know the standard index. If the iodine content in your body is too high, you should eat less iodine-rich foods and vice versa, if it is deficient, you should supplement it.

Need to have a scientific lifestyle and living habits

Consuming too much bad fat will increase the risk of thyroid cancer, so everyone needs to have a healthy diet, avoid fast food, fried foods with lots of oil and increase the intake of fruits, green vegetables, foods rich in vitamins...

You should practice the habit of going to bed early, waking up early, and drinking plenty of water to help eliminate some of the waste and toxins in your body. Drinking plenty of water can also help your body become healthier.

Reasonable weight control

Weight control not only prevents thyroid cancer but also many other diseases, so exercise should ensure a reasonable body weight.

Also, try to eat less unhealthy foods, as there are so many things that contain hormones nowadays. Instead, eat more healthy and nutritious foods to ensure your body is safe, helping your body operate in the most normal and stable conditions.

Stay away from harmful effects of radiation

One of the factors that makes people more susceptible to cancer is radiation. Not only that, medical imaging tests are also harmful to human health, so they should not be abused and should be consulted with specialists.
