Things to note when bringing gold jewelry on an airplane.
If you bring gold on an airplane, you need to pay attention to the following issues to ensure your rights and interests are protected, and to avoid violating the law.
Article 2 of Circular 11/2014/TT-NHNN stipulates the following regarding carrying gold when entering or exiting a country using a passport:
Vietnamese and foreign individuals entering or exiting Vietnam with passports are not permitted to carry gold bars or raw gold. If a foreign individual enters Vietnam carrying gold bars or raw gold, they must deposit it in a customs warehouse and bear all related costs.
Vietnamese and foreign individuals entering or exiting the country with passports carrying gold jewelry or handicrafts with a total weight of 300g or more must declare it to the customs authorities.
Therefore, when carrying gold on international flights, upon entry, the limit is 300g of gold, and it must be checked in at the customs warehouse according to baggage regulations.
If you are carrying more gold than the specified amount, you need to obtain all necessary permits from the director of the provincial or city branch of the State Bank where you reside, in order to report it to the customs authorities.

Penalties for bringing gold onto an airplane.
Carrying gold jewelry on an airplane without declaring it, especially when the quantity exceeds the permitted limit, will result in different consequences. First, the quantity and origin of the gold, silver, and precious stones you are carrying must be clarified. If the origin is clear, you will only be fined an amount corresponding to the state law under the heading "failure to declare sensitive baggage permitted for travel."
If you cannot prove the origin and quantity of the gold, it will be confiscated and handed over to the police for investigation. In the most severe cases, it will be classified as illegal smuggling, and there are corresponding regulations on this matter. Customers should be aware of this to avoid unnecessary risks.
