The Deputy Minister thanked the San Francisco City Government for its important contributions to the process of promoting the Vietnam-US bilateral relationship, especially its determination to establish a sister relationship with Ho Chi Minh City before the two countries normalized diplomatic relations. Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang also received the Declaration signed by the Mayor of San Francisco announcing September 2 as the Vietnam-US Friendship Heritage Day in the City and District of San Francisco in 2024. Previously, on August 29, the delegation attended the Vietnam National Day celebration organized by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston. On August 31, the delegation met with a group of young overseas Vietnamese experts working at large technology and financial corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area such as Apple, Microsoft, Meta, LinkedIn, Lucid, Deloitte, etc. The young experts expressed their joy that the Party and State always pay attention to the community of Vietnamese experts and intellectuals abroad; wished to have more meetings to share in-depth opinions; said they were willing to spend time sharing with young people in the country, thereby increasing opportunities for young people in Vietnam to access advanced science and technology environments. The experts also shared their concerns about the fact that Vietnam is not really attractive to some large technology corporations due to language barriers; the ability of Vietnamese human resources to work in an international environment; and certain concerns about cybersecurity. Young overseas Vietnamese hope that the State will have preferential policies and support connections so that they can contribute from afar or return to Vietnam to work. Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang shared the concerns of overseas Vietnamese and acknowledged their suggestions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with ministries and branches to actively promote the removal of obstacles and create an increasingly favorable environment for young overseas Vietnamese experts to contribute to the country. Meeting with the Vietnamese business community in San Jose and Oakland, California, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang informed about some highlights of Vietnam's socio-economic development and Vietnam-US relations, major programs for overseas Vietnamese; expressed her joy at the strong development of the Vietnamese community in the US with many successful people in the business field. With dynamic development and open policies, Vietnam is an ideal destination for investors, including the Vietnamese business community in the US. The Deputy Minister hoped that there would be more and more large investment projects of overseas Vietnamese in Vietnam, contributing to changing the face of the homeland. The Deputy Minister also hoped that in addition to professional work and business, Vietnamese intellectuals and businessmen in the US would pay more attention and support the common activities of the community, especially supporting the community in organizing activities to maintain and promote traditional cultural identity, teaching Vietnamese to the younger generation, and helping those in difficult circumstances. The delegation visited a number of religious establishments and exchanged with Vietnamese religious dignitaries in Texas and California.
