This is the first time Japanese has been included in the National High School Excellence Exam. This is also the first year the Ministry of Education and Training has applied the method of transferring exam questions through the Government Cipher Committee's system.
On the evening of December 23, the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, informed about the National High School Excellent Student Selection Exam for the 2024-2025 school year.
Accordingly, this year's National High School Excellent Student Selection Exam will officially take place from December 24-26, 2024.
The total number of candidates registered for the exam is 6,482 (an increase of 663 candidates compared to the 2023-2024 school year). This year, the total number of examination councils is 68 councils.
Selected candidates will participate in 13 subjects including: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese.
Regarding more information about the National High School Excellent Student Exam for the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, said that there are some new points as follows:

The transport of exam papers has been smooth and quick.
Expected time to announce exam results is late January 2025.
This year, Hanoi has 260 students competing in 13 subjects (20 students in each subject), an increase of 26 students compared to last year. The highlight of the Hanoi student team competing in the national excellent student competition this year is the participation of students from 16 schools, including specialized high schools, non-specialized public high schools and private schools.
In the system of specialized high schools (schools with specialized classes), the leader is Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted (138 students); followed by Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School. In the block of non-specialized public high schools, the school with the most students making it to the national team is Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (3 students); Kim Lien High School (2 students); the remaining schools: Ngo Quyen High School - Ba Vi, Tran Hung Dao High School - Ha Dong, Phan Huy Chu High School - Dong Da, Viet Duc High School, each school has 1 student becoming a member of the team.
Ho Chi Minh City selected 236 best students from 12 teams. Students participating in the team came from the following high schools: Le Hong Phong Specialized, Tran Dai Nghia Specialized, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Gia Dinh, Mac Dinh Chi, Tran Phu, Tran Van Giau, Phu Nhuan, Tan Tuc, Nguyen Huu Huan, Ngo Quyen, Le Quy Don, Marie Curie, Trung Vuong, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Hoang Hoa Tham and Duc Tri Secondary and High School.
The students had 10 weeks of study and training at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted to prepare for the exam.
Last year, the National High School Excellence Exam for the 2023-2024 school year took place over two days, January 5-6. According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the total number of candidates taking the exam was 5,812, with the subjects being: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French and Chinese.
This is the first year the exam is held under new regulations issued by the Ministry of Education and Training. Accordingly, the maximum number of candidates for each subject is 10, except for Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, which is 20.
