Commenting on The Love Story of Parents by author Doan Khuyen, judge Nguyen Truong Quy said: "The article is concise, coherent, and concise about the relationship of the author's own parents, who met each other during the war and built a life after the war at the same time as building a unified country.
The small story within the big story is told leisurely, without using many difficult situations, making the reader sympathize calmly, possibly thanks to the sufficient time lag.
The story seems simple but still attractive because of the "classic" situations such as two young people finding each other through the friend section of the newspaper or close letters, the realization that they thought they were acquaintances but turned out to be strangers and then liked each other because of that strangeness.
Of course, the event of April 30, 1975 was the reason for the defeated soldier to decide to stay and not evacuate to find the girl he had sworn to. The fate of love and the fate of family are never separated from the fate of the country. The ending is warm and humane enough to wrap up the story completely."
