Responding to the press after the state visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the visit is a particularly important foreign activity between Vietnam and China this year. "The visit was a great success in all aspects, contributing significantly to the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, contributing to peace, stability and development of the region and the world," Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized. The Minister said that General Secretary and President To Lam had a very rich and meaningful program of activities with 18 activities in more than 2 days. Within the framework of the visit, the two sides issued a Joint Statement on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, deepening the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future. Ministries, branches and localities of the two countries signed many cooperation documents in the fields of testing - quarantine, customs, health, communications, local cooperation and people's livelihood . According to Minister Bui Thanh Son, closely following the spirit of the Joint Statement and the common perceptions of high-level leaders reached during this visit, in the coming time, the two sides will focus on promoting cooperation in five main aspects. Firstly, continue to maintain strategic exchanges between senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries, consolidate the foundation of political trust, and jointly orient the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance; fully promote the role of the Party channel, the mechanisms of the Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People's Congress of China, of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and defense, security, and diplomatic exchange mechanisms. The two sides agreed to promote the overall coordinating role of the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee; strengthen cooperation in the fields of defense and security. Secondly, on the basis of the "6 more" orientation, continue to concretize the high-level common perceptions and signed agreements; bring substantive cooperation to new progress; facilitate trade, expand the export of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to the Chinese market. Promote the connection of development strategies between the two countries, effectively implement the Cooperation Plan connecting the “Two Corridors, One Belt” Framework with the “Belt and Road” Initiative; accelerate the promotion of “hard connections” between the two countries in terms of high-speed railways, expressways, and border gate infrastructure; upgrade “soft connections” in terms of smart customs and smart border gates. The two sides encourage and support enterprises with strength, reputation and advanced technology to invest in the other country, focusing on strengthening cooperation in the fields of agriculture and infrastructure; expanding cooperation in new fields such as digital economy, circular economy, green development, clean energy, renewable energy. Third, agree to take 2025 as the "Year of Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange". The two sides will jointly organize a series of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - China diplomatic relations; enhance cultural exchanges, cooperation in communications, news , publishing, radio and television; strengthen cooperation in the fields of health, health care, traditional medicine, prevention and mitigation of natural disasters; expand and improve the effectiveness of local cooperation, people-to-people exchange, especially among the younger generation; promote tourism cooperation, open more flights, and encourage more and more tourists to travel to the other country. Fourth, strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation; strengthen coordination in mechanisms such as the United Nations, the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), and support each other's candidacy for international organizations. China supports Vietnam to host APEC 2027; supports Vietnam's accession and promotion of its role in multilateral mechanisms; China supports ASEAN in building a united, unified, self-reliant and developing ASEAN Community, maintaining its central role in the regional structure. Fifth, continue to effectively implement high-level common perceptions, better control and actively resolve disagreements at sea; reaffirm the importance of maintaining and promoting peace, stability, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, agree to handle disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The two sides continue to coordinate to effectively implement legal documents on land borders and related agreements, strengthen cooperation in the Vietnam-China land border area, and well organize the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Land Border Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the signing of three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border.
