3 initiatives of Vietnam at AIPA-44

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to Indonesia to attend the 44th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-44), demonstrating the Vietnamese National Assembly's strong support for AIPA-44, as well as the role of host country Indonesia and the theme of this AIPA.

Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha said that at AIPA-44, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue delivered a speech emphasizing that, in the context and current world situation, to continue building the ASEAN Community, AIPA needs to have a more active role based on ASEAN's principles of independence, autonomy and consensus; disputes need to be resolved in the spirit of respect for the law, common principles and standards of conduct on the basis of international law; strengthening intra-bloc cooperation; promoting trade cooperation; enhancing safe digital transformation, equitable energy transition and promoting green growth, ensuring inclusive growth and sustainable development; ASEAN Parliaments work together to respond to regional and global challenges...

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended and spoke at the Foreign Policy Forum in Indonesia.

The Vietnamese delegation proposed three initiatives through three draft resolutions on digital transformation led by and for women; promoting innovation, transfer, application, and development of science and technology for growth and sustainable development; and promoting the application of ASEAN guidelines on responsible investment in the fields of food, agriculture, and forestry. Vietnam also co-sponsored a number of other important resolutions. The drafts of the Vietnamese delegation were welcomed by the countries, unanimously approved at the Committee meetings and submitted to the General Assembly for approval at the final session.

In addition, the National Assembly Chairman also had bilateral meetings on the sidelines with the Chairmen of the National Assembly of member countries and AIPA observers. The delegation members met with partners and discussed measures to further promote relations with regional partners and ASEAN observers, contributing to building a peaceful, stable and developed ASEAN.

New milestone in parliamentary cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia and Iran

Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong said that the official visit to Indonesia and Iran by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue marked a new milestone in the relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia and Vietnam and Iran. During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and his counterpart signed two cooperation agreements between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Iranian Parliament. This is a very important result, opening up new cooperation activities between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Iranian Parliament in the coming time. "The agreements have very specifically stated all the points that the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Indonesian House of Representatives, the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Iranian Parliament can share and exchange experiences in the coming time," said Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong.

Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong added that during the visit of the National Assembly Chairman, ministries, sectors and localities of Vietnam and ministries, sectors and localities of Indonesia and Iran signed many memorandums of understanding (MOUs). These MOUs not only promote cooperation in political and diplomatic aspects, but also promote cooperation in economics, trade, investment, culture, society, education... creating a new premise to promote relations between Vietnam, Indonesia and Iran.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet stated that the official visit to Indonesia and Iran by the National Assembly Chairman achieved many results, clearly demonstrated through the very respectful and warm welcome that the leaders of the two countries gave to the National Assembly Chairman. The President of Indonesia, the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, the President of Iran, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and representatives of the two countries all affirmed the importance of bilateral relations with Vietnam. The National Assembly Chairman delivered important speeches at the forum on policies and laws held in both countries to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, attracting the attention of many businesses. Through the forum, hundreds of contacts between businesses were made. In general, during the visit to Indonesia and Iran, 30 contracts and minutes were signed by ministries, branches and businesses.

The highlight of the two visits was the important policy speeches of the National Assembly Chairman on bilateral relations as well as the vision for regional and global cooperation. These speeches conveyed the message of Vietnam's foreign policy and Vietnam's wishes and ideas on developing relations with other countries in the coming time. The National Assembly Chairman also shared experiences in national development, especially the experience of "taking people as the root"; affirming the value of peace and harmony in implementing Vietnam's independent, autonomous and open foreign policy. "I clearly feel the excitement of the local business community as well as the determination of ministries and branches in implementing the achieved results to truly promote and deepen the relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia and Iran in the coming time", said Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet.

Researcher Omial Babelian from the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran) expressed his impression of the viewpoint and philosophy of “taking the people as the root” that National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue mentioned in his speech at the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations in front of hundreds of delegates who are scholars, researchers and veteran diplomats of Iran. According to him, Vietnam and Iran have many similarities. The two countries need to continue to share many such philosophies to promote better bilateral cooperation.
