Toxic “gift stories”

Gossip usually starts with two people, the content depends on the subject and age. Women like to talk about family, relatives, market prices, fashion, health care, etc. Young people often "gossip" about movies, music, sports. Men like to talk about vehicles, current events, especially politics.

In the past, if people wanted to join in chats, they had to meet to chat, but with the development of technology, thanks to social networks, everyone can join in chatting on many groups, regardless of time and with many topics that interest them.

The more people there are, the more lively the conversation. Whether online or in real life, current issues are always the most hotly discussed.

Objectively speaking, participating in gossip helps people reduce stress, bring joy and excitement, build friendly relationships, and connect individuals in the community. Many gossips also provide useful information and inspiration to help them solve problems in life, gain support and sympathy from people around.

However, in life, there are many extremely useless gossips, negative influences, even very toxic. Some people have the habit of gossiping and criticizing others, especially colleagues in the same office with the aim of bringing them down, causing them to lose prestige, and at the same time asserting themselves as competent people.

Some individuals always want to show that they are sociable, know everything in the world, including "hidden palace stories", often "hinting" at information that is "not official, still under consideration". The content of these "gift stories" is often related to important decisions such as personnel work, macro-level planning or policies that have a great impact on society. Although there is no reliable basis, many people still believe it. It is even more dangerous if the "storyteller" is a cadre or party member holding a position in an agency or organization.

These days, people are always interested in information about the restructuring of the apparatus, policies for those who are subject to downsizing, and the merger of provinces... This is also the main topic in gossip, taking this opportunity to appear fame-seeking people with "secret" information to discuss "who is going, who is staying".

Not only that, the story also progressed to evaluating this person, commenting on that person, including inaccurate information about the private lives of cadres and leaders, confusing public opinion with false information, affecting the reputation of organizations and individuals.

Discipline in speech must be strictly enforced.

According to data from the Central Organizing Committee, from 2016 to present, more than 500 party members have been disciplined for speaking and writing inconsistently with the Party's viewpoints and guidelines and the State's policies and laws.

In reality, there is a situation where some cadres and civil servants show "two faces": When at the agency or unit, they speak and act in accordance with the Party's viewpoints and policies, but when they step out of the agency or unit, they speak indiscriminately, deviate, and go against the interests of the nation, people, and organization where they work.

There are even individuals who take advantage of freedom and democracy to make arbitrary, non-constructive statements or use unofficial, untrue information to make irresponsible and unconstructive accusations and discussions about the country's issues, causing public outrage.

Regulation No. 69-QD/TW on disciplining party organizations and party members who violate the law clearly states the disciplinary form of reprimand for party members who propagate, copy, disseminate, or provide information, documents, or artifacts with bad content; disciplinary form of warning or dismissal (if holding a position) for party members who speak against the Party's policies and regulations and the State's laws; or spread untrue information...

Each person's speech is a cultural factor. Complying with speech discipline is not only a cultured lifestyle but also an attitude and awareness of implementing regulations for party members.

Protecting the Party's ideological foundation includes strictly following the discipline of speaking. Cadres and Party members must raise awareness, speak in accordance with their functions, tasks, responsibilities, and powers, and must be careful and think carefully before speaking. Proactively study, learn, and practice political mettle, enhance "resistance" to wrong, distorted thoughts, and distorted arguments of hostile forces, so as not to degrade, "self-evolve", or "self-transform". Promote self-criticism and criticism to contribute to improving one's own capacity as well as one's awareness and responsibility towards society and the country.

Every cadre and party member must actively and diligently implement the Party's regulations. Regulation No. 144-QD/TW dated May 9, 2024 of the 13th Politburo, Regulations on revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members in the new period, states: "Raise awareness of organizational discipline, discipline, especially discipline in speaking. Speak and act in accordance with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; comply with the regulations of agencies and units, and obey the assignments of the Party and the organization."

Party committees and organizations at all levels need to further innovate the content of activities, improve the quality of political and ideological work, and sense of organizational discipline. Require cadres, party members, civil servants, and public employees to speak and act according to the Party's resolutions, resolutely not to follow or follow bad arguments or unverified information.

In party cell activities, the party cell committee needs to regularly remind party members to maintain discipline in speaking, limiting the situation of using "stories as gifts" which leads to inaccurate statements.
