A few million to tens of billions of dong

In November, the Central Joint Stock Auction Company (headquartered in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam) issued regulations on auctioning assets to liquidate materials recovered from the demolition of the old Que Chau Commune Police Office and the old Que Phong Commune People's Committee Hall in Que Son District.

The auctioned property of the old Que Chau Commune Police Office has a starting price of over 7.6 million VND.

The liquidation of the old Que Phong Commune People's Committee Hall has a starting price of 10.7 million VND.

Both of these assets were auctioned on the morning of December 9 at the headquarters of the Central Joint Stock Auction Company.

However, what made everyone participating in the auction "dizzy" was when a woman in Que Son district won the auction of the liquidated property of the Que Chau Commune Police Office (old) for 15 billion VND and the liquidated property of the Que Phong Commune People's Committee Hall (old) for 17 billion VND.

Mr. T. - a participant in the auction - said that he auctioned the above property for only a few tens of millions. "Dismantling the office building, the hall with an area of over 100m2 , reusing the purlins, scrap, iron and steel... why did he bid for tens of billions?" - Mr. T. said.

Mr. C., another person participating in the auction, said that such an unusually high bid surprised everyone. "It cannot be said that there was a mistake because both bids had both numbers and letters. Someone must have intentionally sabotaged the auction," Mr. C. said indignantly.

Due to "mistakingly recording" millions as billions

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of the Central Joint Stock Auction Company said the auction winner was a woman named H. (55 years old).

Ms. H. bought the auction documents for her son (because he was busy). On the morning of December 9, she went down to put her bid in the box. After the auction was over, the company announced it according to regulations.

When the tickets were announced, most of the tickets were priced from tens of millions to tens of millions of dong. Ms. H. wrote clearly in numbers and words on the two tickets, respectively, more than 15 billion dong and 17 billion dong. These were valid tickets because the numbers and words matched.

In case the auction winner does not pay within 5 days, the company will send a document to the authorities to report the incident. At that time, according to regulations, the result will be canceled, the auction will be reorganized, and the auction winner will lose the deposit.

According to this person, after opening the auction, Ms. H. said that she only bid in the millions, each ballot was intended to only say tens of millions but mistakenly wrote tens of billions of dong.

"When the announcement was made, I was also shocked, because the amount and the words matched, so we had no reason to cancel their bid. For example, if the number was wrong and the words were correct, it would be invalid, and we would announce the second place winner of the auction," he said.
