In an interview with a VNA reporter in Beijing, journalist Wei Wei, a Vietnam research expert and Head of the Vietnamese Department of China Central Radio and Television (CMG), highly appreciated Vietnam's economic and diplomatic achievements in 2024, and also said that in 2025, Vietnam's economy will continue its development trend and will achieve more outstanding achievements. According to journalist Wei Wei, although the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth figures in 2024 have not been announced, when presenting the "Report on the results of the implementation of the 2024 socio-economic development plan; Projected socio-economic development plan for 2025" at the National Assembly, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam's GDP in 2024 is expected to exceed 6.8%, and the GDP growth target for 2025 is expected to reach 7%. This forecast makes Vietnam's economic data stand out in the global economic recovery process since the COVID-19 pandemic. In the field of trade, in the first 9 months of this year, Vietnam's import-export turnover increased by 16.3% over the same period last year, with export turnover increasing by 15.4% and import turnover increasing by 17.3%, with a trade surplus of nearly 20.8 billion USD. In particular, Vietnam-China economic and trade cooperation maintained strong growth momentum. In the first 8 months of 2024, bilateral trade turnover reached 130.78 billion USD, Vietnam's import turnover from China reached 92.5 billion USD, up 34.25% over the same period in 2023. According to the common understanding reached between the leaders of the two countries, the project to build a Vietnam-China smart border gate is being comprehensively promoted. After completion, it will improve the "intelligence index" of the border gate's clearance capacity, rapidly promoting bilateral trade investment. In addition, cooperation between the two sides in the fields of mechanical equipment, electronic products, etc. is also increasingly close. In the field of tourism, in the first half of 2024, the number of international visitors to Vietnam increased by 58.4% over the same period last year. This figure is very eye-catching, in which in May this year alone, Vietnam welcomed 357,000 Chinese tourists, China becoming the largest source of inbound tourists to Vietnam. Foreign direct investment is also an important bright spot. According to statistics, in the first 9 months of this year, Vietnam attracted 17.3 billion USD in foreign investment capital, an increase of 8.9% over the same period last year, reaching the highest level in many years. China ranked first among new investment projects in Vietnam, fully demonstrating the importance of Chinese enterprises to the Vietnamese market. These projects have created a large number of local jobs for industrial parks in the provinces of Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, etc. Evaluating Vietnam's diplomatic achievements, researcher Ngu Vi said that in 2024, Vietnam's diplomacy will also achieve important achievements, and its influence in the international arena will also continue to increase. It is noteworthy that the senior leaders of Vietnam and China have established a new historical position in building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, opening a new chapter in developing relations between the two Parties and two countries in the new era, promoting practical cooperation in many fields. In 2024, the senior leaders of the two countries maintained close exchanges through many diverse and flexible forms. After taking office as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Comrade To Lam chose China as the destination of his first foreign visit, demonstrating the importance that the Vietnamese leader attaches to the relationship between the two countries. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Comrade Luong Cuong, then Standing Member of the Secretariat, and many other Vietnamese state leaders visited China. Agencies of the two countries such as the Party, Government, military, National People's Congress, Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the Fatherland Front... have many mutual visits and close exchanges, providing important guarantees for the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance./.
