Thinking he could change his life after digging up a rare treasure, a man in China could not have expected what happened next.
In 2004, a man unexpectedly dug up a giant jade block weighing up to 6 tons in an abandoned mine in Lop Nur, Xinjiang, China. News of this man's discovery quickly spread everywhere, attracting the attention of many local people.
It is known that this man is Zhao Sheliang from Baoji, Shaanxi Province, who specializes in jade trading. Hearing that the Hotan jade in Xinjiang is very valuable and can be sold at a high price, Zhao Sheliang personally went to the place to supervise the jade mining.
After several days of continuous digging, they still found nothing, and everyone advised Zhao Sheliang to give up. One day, the miners dug deeper and began to discover small fluorescent stones. Zhao Sheliang was now full of hope, and urged everyone to dig another 10 meters underground.
Finally, his hopes were not in vain. Zhao Sheliang dug up a huge piece of rough jade that he had never seen before. After transporting the jade from Xinjiang to Shaanxi, he spent another 3 years polishing it into a spherical shape weighing 6 tons and measuring 1.6 meters in diameter.
In 2010, this giant glowing jade block was first displayed by Zhao Sheliang at an exhibition in Xi'an. After its debut, it immediately caused a stir around the world and broke the Guinness World Record. According to experts at that time, this jade block was estimated to be worth an astronomical 2.6 billion yuan (more than 9,100 billion VND).
Of course, this was still too much of a price even for true antique collectors. Some collectors who really liked the jade piece contacted Zhao Sheliang privately, hoping that he would adjust the price. However, Zhao Sheliang felt that his glowing jade piece was a rare treasure, so its value should be higher than that. As a result, more and more people came to see it curiously, but no one was able to meet Zhao Sheliang's asking price.
After a long time, the jade still could not find a new owner, so Trieu Xa Luong gave up the plan to sell it and started taking the jade to exhibitions. Each time he went to an exhibition, he had to spend a lot of money on transportation, venue fees, and labor.
Finally, in order to let more people admire the giant glowing jade, commensurate with its value, Trieu Xa Luong decided to transport the jade to the Duc Hoang Dinh Park in Yen Dai, Shandong.
Yuhuangding Park is a place developed by the local government as a cultural project. When residents and tourists come to the amusement park, they are attracted by this giant glowing pearl that is extremely prominent. Especially at night, the light of the pearl can even illuminate the entire park, becoming a new famous landmark of the entire Yantai City.
In 2020, Trieu Xa Luong, now old, completely woke up and no longer had any illusions about the dream of getting rich from the giant pearl. He returned to his normal business life, accumulating assets for the rest of his life, because over the years he had spent too much money and effort on the pearl.
When the story of treasure hunting and digging up the giant glowing pearl in Xinjiang became popular online, many people laughed at Zhao Sheliang’s treasure that had now become a “street lamp” illuminating the park. However, for him, this was still a legendary experience in his life, enough for him to reminisce about in the days to come.
