VHO - In the current period, digital transformation to preserve relics and heritage is extremely necessary. This is the bridge to bring relics and heritage closer to the community, actively contributing to the process of preserving and promoting cultural values, turning cultural heritage into tourism products, developing the socio-economy and contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam to the world.
Thanh Hoa is famous as the country's "heritage cradle", home to the World Cultural Heritage Ho Dynasty Citadel with many outstanding global values in history, culture and architecture. To bring the image of Thanh Hoa land and people closer to domestic and international tourists, in recent years, the "digitization of red addresses" in the province has been increasingly effectively implemented.
Thanh Hoa is also one of the localities that implemented digital transformation early in the country by promoting the application of digitalization in developing smart tourism.
In which, the Provincial Museum and some relics in Thanh Hoa province such as: Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site (Tho Xuan), Ho Dynasty Citadel Cultural Heritage Site (Vinh Loc), Nua Temple - Am Tien Historical Relic Site (Trieu Son), Ngoc Trao Guerrilla War Zone (Thach Thanh), Le Huu Lap Memorial Site (Hau Loc)... people and tourists only need a smartphone with internet connection to visit and learn about the destination.
When visiting Lam Kinh Historical Site (Tho Xuan), visitors not only get to listen to the tour guide's direct introduction, the system of 28 automatic explanations, but also have many other interesting experiences. Just need a mobile phone with Internet connection, useful and important information with audio files, images about the Relic Site are quickly transmitted to visitors via the QR Code scanning system. This is one of the useful applications, helping visitors easily learn and feel the values of the destination more fully.
Head of the Lam Kinh Historical Relic Management Board, Nguyen Xuan Toan, said that the unit is currently preserving and storing more than 22,000 artifacts, including many valuable artifacts such as bowls and plates decorated with embossed dragons and blue-painted dragons from the Le Dynasty; architectural decorative materials and some artifacts of the architectural foundations that have been excavated and exposed from underground at Lam Kinh Relic and Thang Long Imperial Citadel. The artifacts are vivid evidence of the Lam Son uprising and the Le Dynasty, contributing to clarifying the cultural and historical values associated with Lam Kinh historical relic.
Five national treasures, including Vinh Lang stele (stele of King Le Thai To), Khon Nguyen Chi Duc stele (stele of Queen Mother Ngo Thi Ngoc Dao), Chieu Lang stele (stele of King Le Thanh Tong), Du Lang stele (stele of King Le Hien Tong), and Kinh Lang stele (stele of King Le Du Tong). Each of these treasures is not only a valuable work of art; but it can also be likened to a “slice” of history reflected through the life and career of the person engraved on the stele.
“In implementing the heritage digitization program, in recent times, the Management Board has coordinated with units to deploy information technology applications in preserving and introducing relics. Thereby, helping the preservation of artifacts to be more scientific and methodical, while helping visitors easily access, visualize and learn about the unique values of the heritage. Spreading the image of Lam Kinh historical relic with its unique cultural and historical values is getting closer to visitors, while contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of the community in joining hands to protect the relics,” Mr. Toan added.
Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum currently has more than 30,000 artifacts displayed in historical order. With the innovation of display methods and the application of digital transformation, in recent years the Provincial Museum has become a unique cultural space, attracting a large number of people and tourists, contributing to adding vitality to this "unique" destination.
Currently, the outstanding application of digital technology at Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum includes the 3D tour application on the website and QR code scanning to help visitors visit and learn about documents and artifacts in the most convenient and complete way.
Notably, in 2022, Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum completed the digitization of three national treasures including the Nua Mountain short sword, Cam Giang I bronze drum and Cam Thuy bronze cauldron, helping visitors access the treasures in multidimensional space, with surreal experiences.
Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum Trinh Dinh Duong shared: “The application of digital technology not only helps the artifacts and documents here have the opportunity to be closer to the public, but also makes the management and preservation work more professional and accurate. In particular, the application of virtual reality technology has helped visitors approach national treasures in a vivid way, being able to see every detail and pattern on the artifacts instead of just looking and listening to explanations like before.”
According to the Project "Innovation of Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum activities until 2030", in the period of 2023-2025, the Provincial Museum will digitize 10-15% of the artifacts and documents currently preserved. In the next 5 years, digitization of artifacts and documents will reach 20-30% of the total number of artifacts...
At the same time, 4.0 technology is applied to 4 fixed exhibition rooms according to historical progress, using an intelligent automatic explanation system.
Thereby, it aims to introduce and promote the value of typical and unique collections of artifacts about the land, history - culture and people of Thanh Hoa province to the public, making the Provincial Museum an attractive destination.
It can be affirmed that digital transformation is truly a "push" that contributes to changing people's approach to historical and cultural heritage in a more positive, modern, lively, proactive, and personalized direction.
However, to reap the “sweet fruit” of digital transformation in heritage management, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province had to overcome many difficulties. Despite the attention and facilitation from leaders at all levels, the journey of digitizing heritage is not simple.
Accordingly, to gradually remove barriers, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province is continuing to focus on implementing strong digital transformation, towards digital museums, digital libraries, digital explanations, and digital transformation in cultural heritage management. Each officer in the department is an "ambassador", an active propagandist spreading advanced values, striving to bring cultural heritage closer to the people and vice versa, bringing people closer to heritage.
