Digital transformation starts with innovation in thinking and educational management methods

NDO - On December 7, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training held a workshop on digital transformation in education and training in 2024 with the theme "Higher education with digital technology".

The workshop aims to assess the current situation, achievements, advantages, difficulties, and lessons learned in the process of implementing digital transformation in education and training human resources to serve digital technology development, as well as orient and discuss solutions for the period 2025-2030.

The workshop focused on four main contents: Management and administration of higher education institutions based on data and digital technology; implementation of digital higher education models; training human resources to serve digital technology development; developing digital capacity for learners.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said: The application of information technology and digital transformation in the education sector is an extremely important task, creating a breakthrough development for the education sector.

Because, no industry is affected and impacted by digital transformation and artificial intelligence like the education industry; at the same time, education is also the industry that benefits from these impacts.

Besides being affected and benefiting from the digital transformation process, the education sector has a great mission of training human resources and talents, and fostering and improving people's knowledge and understanding of digital technology.

With that mission, the education sector needs to increase the application of information technology and digital transformation, improving digital skills for people.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son spoke at the workshop.

Since 2022, the Ministry of Education and Training has submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the Project "Enhancing the application of information technology and digital transformation in education and training for the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030".

During the project implementation, the education sector overcame the Covid-19 pandemic, creating momentum and impetus for the entire sector to make important changes.

The transition from face-to-face to online teaching has demonstrated the industry’s ability to adapt and meet changing demands in the new context. However, it is only an important step but cannot be called digital transformation in the industry.

"To carry out digital transformation, we must start with innovation in thinking, methods, and approaches to education management, school administration, and teaching," Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son emphasized.

According to the report of the Department of Information Technology (Ministry of Education and Training), in recent times, digital transformation in particular and the education and training sector in general have achieved many important results such as building and putting into operation a database system on digitized higher education with data of about 470 higher education institutions, over 25,000 training programs, over 100,000 staff records, nearly 3 million student records; applying information technology to serve the high school graduation exam and university admissions,...

Besides the achieved results, there are still limitations in the digital transformation process in higher education today.

The most prominent difficulty is technical infrastructure; data infrastructure and connections are still scattered, lacking connections, and there is no data sharing connection.

Along with that, the work of ensuring information security, network security, and solutions to protect personal data has not received due attention.
