Digital transformation of journalism will create a healthy playing field

Ms. Mahavaw, representative of the Indonesian Ministry of Information and Communications, shared that digital transformation of the media is an inevitable trend, aiming to enhance the media capacity of the press in attracting viewership from social networking platforms, protecting traditional values ​​along with modernizing the press and media.

Digital transformation and technology development will help ensure a fair playing field and create a healthy media ecosystem to support journalism against cross-border platforms.

The representative of the Indonesian Ministry of Information and Communications also added that the Government of this country has its own regulations and media standards such as the Broadcasting Law, the Law on Personal Data Protection; Guidelines for Online Media News... thereby ensuring the good development of the press industry.

Meanwhile, a representative of the Ministry of Information and Communications of Myanmar shared that the country's digital transformation process is taking place rapidly and has a specific development plan until 2025, including an electronic development index for the information and communications industry.

This person shared that Myanmar has had important media reforms in recent times, including the abolition of the 1962 Publishers and Printers Registration Act. In addition, a new press law has been enacted to promote press responsibility and freedom. The media can operate with greater autonomy.

“In 2023, we have made strong digital transformations from traditional to digital and online media such as developing printing, television and entertainment technology, and the Ministry of Information and Communications plays a major role in management. At the same time, the country's media agencies will be the bridge between the government and the people,” said a representative of Myanmar.
