(Dan Tri) - The story of the life of Hoang Khai, a young man studying for a master's degree in law at Tsinghua University (China), moved many people.
Hoang Khai (29 years old) was born in a small village in Nanyang City, Henan Province, China. When he was 1 year old, his parents divorced. Neither of them wanted to raise Hoang Khai, so his grandparents took on the responsibility of caring for and raising him.
After Hoang Khai's parents remarried, he received no more attention from the two people who gave birth to him.
Since childhood, Hoang Khai knew that his biological mother wanted to focus on her current family and did not like him to contact her much, so he soon understood and rarely sought her out.
Regarding his father, Hoang Khai also has a sad memory. When he was 12 years old, during the summer vacation, his father took him to live with his new family, so that he could take care of his half-brother and help his stepmother with housework. When his father's friends came to visit, they asked who Hoang Khai was, and his father always said that he was a poor boy from the countryside, who was called up by his family to work as a housekeeper during the summer vacation.
From these sad experiences, Hoang Khai no longer wanted to find his biological parents. When deciding to publicly share his life story with the media, Hoang Khai said he had healed himself after what happened in his childhood.
He said that sharing about his sad childhood was not to attract public attention, but to help teenagers in sad family situations have more motivation to try harder.
"I have never felt the love of my parents. However, I am lucky to have the love and care of my grandparents," Hoang Khai said.
It was his grandfather who advised Hoang Khai to study hard to change his life. His grandparents tried their best to send Hoang Khai to school. Despite the family's difficult circumstances, they were determined not to let their grandson fall into the situation of being uneducated.
During his childhood years living with his grandparents, Hoang Khai always tried hard to study and was an excellent student. He was the first person in his village to pass the university entrance exam. At that time, Hoang Khai chose to major in rehabilitation at a medical school in Ha Nam province. He hoped to have a job soon after graduation, because his family's circumstances at that time were very difficult.
Indeed, after graduating, Hoang Khai quickly found a job at a hospital. He was able to provide for his grandparents and improve his family's life.
However, Hoang Khai’s true passion is law. After much consideration and encouragement from his grandparents, Hoang Khai decided to study for a master’s degree in law at Tsinghua University. While studying and working, Hoang Khai actively studied and had to take the exam five times before passing in 2022.
Hoang Khai became the pride of his grandparents and the people living in the small village where he was born. From a boy with extremely difficult circumstances, Hoang Khai passed the master's program in law at Tsinghua University, which is ranked 12th in the ranking of the world's best universities, published by the Times Higher Education magazine (UK).
Hoang Khai was also quickly accepted as an intern at a prestigious law firm, he wanted to accumulate practical experience during his studies.
Since Huang Kai decided to share his story with the Chinese media, many people have called him "the most pitiful master's student at Tsinghua University". However, Huang Kai believes that he is still lucky, because his childhood was spent with grandparents who loved, cared for, and gave him the best things they could within their capabilities.
