It has been nearly a year since General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited and worked with the Party Committee, army and people in the province (August 25, 2023), but many people in Lang Son still feel like it was just yesterday about a simple leader, close to the people, always optimistic, cheerful with a constant smile on his lips.

Ms. Nguyen Bich Thuy in Dong Kinh ward, Lang Son city recalled that on that day, when she heard that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong would visit and give gifts to policy families in the locality in the early afternoon of August 25, 2023, from the morning, people along Ngo Gia Tu street told each other to stop selling, and by noon, they gathered on both sides of the street holding flags and flowers to welcome the General Secretary.
When the General Secretary arrived, with his usual simple demeanor, he stopped by the roadside and waved to all the people, making everyone feel warm, touched, and proud. “Now hearing the news that the General Secretary has passed away to join the Party’s revolutionary veterans, the people are deeply saddened. Every house flies the flag at half-mast to commemorate the General Secretary,” Ms. Thuy choked up.
Ms. La Thi Thao (wife of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khoat, a veteran revolutionary cadre in Dong Kinh ward, Lang Son city) - who had the honor to meet the General Secretary, said that on that day the General Secretary came to visit and give gifts, the family was extremely happy. During his visit and work in Lang Son province on August 25, 2023, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was very cheerful, open and tactful. Standing Deputy Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee Hoang Van Nghiem said that the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the province are very saddened by the passing of the General Secretary and will unite to continue striving to fulfill the set goals.
Implementing the direction, notes and suggestions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for the province; at the same time, striving to complete the goals and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress, Lang Son province strives to have an economic scale and GRDP per capita in the top 5 provinces of the Northern midland and mountainous region by 2030. The average GRDP growth rate in the 2021-2030 period will reach 8-9%/year.
By 2030, the average GRDP per capita (at current prices) will reach about 150 million VND. The total investment capital for social development in the 2021-2030 period will reach about 340 trillion VND. The poverty rate will decrease by 2-3%/year (according to the poverty standards of each period). By 2030, the province will basically have no poor districts or particularly disadvantaged communes.
