The construction of Tan Son Nhat T3 Passenger Terminal was started by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) on December 24, 2022. This project contributes to increasing the capacity of Tan Son Nhat Airport to 50 million passengers/year.
Tan Son Nhat T3 Terminal was put into operation with a total floor area of up to 112,500m², including 1 basement and 4 upper floors, scientifically and modernly arranged with 90 traditional check-in counters, 20 automatic baggage drop counters and 42 check-in kiosks.
Previously, Tan Son Nhat airport operated one international passenger terminal and one domestic passenger terminal with a designed capacity of 28 million passengers/year.
Of which, the domestic terminal, after many renovations and expansions, has a designed capacity of 15 million passengers/year. However, the domestic passenger throughput has passed more than 26 million passengers/year, 1.7 times overloaded compared to the designed capacity.
Tan Son Nhat T3 Terminal, put into operation for domestic operations with a capacity of 20 million passengers/year, is considered a key project to fundamentally solve the congestion at Tan Son Nhat.
According to ACV, Tan Son Nhat Airport's T3 passenger terminal is a project that ensures construction quality according to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The opening of the terminal demonstrates the progress and quality of a key national project while creating a modern aviation space where passenger experience is a top priority.
With a modern design, equipped with many advanced aviation technologies, and a synchronously invested system of runways and overpasses, Terminal T3 will receive nearly 80% of the total number of domestic flights arriving and departing at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
ACV said it will continue to listen to feedback from passengers and operators to further improve the operating process, ensuring that Tan Son Nhat T3 passenger terminal is not only an air transit point but also a symbol of development, bringing memorable experiences to every passenger on their journey.
As the first airline to operate Tan Son Nhat Terminal 3, Vietnam Airlines said that in the coming time, it will continue to update the roadmap for transferring other domestic routes to Terminal 3 and will widely notify passengers through official channels.
It is expected that the airline will arrange check-in counters at terminal T3 from number 56 to 109, along with 22 automatic check-in counters to help passengers save time and increase initiative.
To ensure a smooth journey, passengers are advised to carefully check the departure terminal information on their tickets, learn the T3 terminal map, arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before their flight time, and prioritize using online check-in on the website, mobile application or at self-service kiosks at the airport.
To ensure convenient access for passengers to Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has also issued an official dispatch requesting Tan Son Nhat International Airport to preside over and coordinate with units and airlines to unify the operation plan, ensuring convenience for passengers and airlines.
At the same time, supplement forms of guidance and information, increase guidance staff to help passengers easily recognize and avoid going to the wrong terminal during the initial period of putting terminal T3 into operation.
