Some contestants attracted attention when they performed impressive name calling by singing, reciting poems... when introducing their hometown. Specifically, contestant Nguyen Vinh Ha Phuong raised her voice when introducing that she was from Ho Chi Minh City. Closing the final round of Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 , the contestants' name calling received mixed responses from the beauty community. In addition to compliments for the Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 contestants' name calling, which was somewhat more restrained and gentle than last season. However, many opinions said that the contestants wearing evening gowns to perform the name calling were not up to the standards of the Miss Grand International contest.

In addition, some contestants were "examined" for mistakes in calling out their names, such as not pronouncing clearly or being out of breath... This did not satisfy the "hardcore fans" who followed the Miss Grand Vietnam and Miss Grand International contests.

Sharing with Dan Viet about the reason why contestants abandoned their "specialty" of calling out names during bikini performances, Mr. Hoang Nhat Nam - General Director and Deputy Head of the Jury of Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 said that the contest's Organizing Committee always respects the audience and has learned from the audience's comments after the final night of Miss Grand Vietnam 2022.

“Although some young viewers think that the Miss Grand Vietnam 2022 contest’s name calling is exciting, attractive and energetic, the majority of viewers who watch the show believe that the name calling should not be done while wearing a bikini because it does not show formality.

Therefore, at the Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 final round, we decided to change to calling out names in evening gowns," General Director Hoang Nhat Nam explained.

Referring to the preparation for the contestants' name calling in the final night, Ms. Pham Kim Dung - President of Miss Grand Vietnam said that the contestants were given many rehearsals by the contest organizers before the final round. "We also feel that the new plan is safer and more suitable. But depending on each person's voice, each contestant has a different way of calling out their names, some contestants read poetry, some sing... Overall, I see that the Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 contestants are creative and individual, so the name calling and performance are also more colorful," shared the President of Miss Grand Vietnam.

According to the representative of the Miss Grand Vietnam Organizing Committee, the Miss Grand International contest still has a name-calling part in evening gowns for some years. This is applied by the Miss Grand Vietnam Organizing Committee on the final stage of the contest to show solemnity, neatness, and dignity, and pride in the homeland.

In response to the question about the name calling at the Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 final, the representative of the Miss Grand Vietnam Organizing Committee revealed: "In the final, the name calling will take place according to the format of the Miss Grand International contest when contestants are only allowed to call out their name and hometown."

It is known that the jury for the Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 final round includes: Miss Ha Kieu Anh - Head of the jury; People's Artist Vuong Duy Bien - Deputy Head of the jury; General Director Hoang Nhat Nam - Deputy Head of the jury, Miss Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien; Singer and runner-up Lona Kieu Loan; Supermodel Minh Tu; Actress Diem My and designer Do Long.

The final of Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on August 27. The successor of Miss Doan Thien An will participate in the Miss Grand International 2023 contest in October this year, held in Vietnam.
