Ms. Nguyen Hong Ngoc Uyen graduated from Da Nang University of Foreign Languages with a Bachelor's degree in English in 2012 and holds Level 1 and Level 2 teaching certificates issued by Da Nang University of Education.
Ms. Ngoc Uyen asked: "I want to take the civil service exam to become an English teacher at the primary school level. Am I eligible? Are my current Level 1 and Level 2 teaching certificates still valid?"
In response to Ms. Ngoc Uyen's question, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) stated:
On January 27, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Letter No. 336/BGDĐT-NGCBQLGD regarding several issues related to the required training qualifications and pedagogical professional certificates. In this letter, the Ministry of Education and Training requested that localities accept pedagogical professional certificates issued by training institutions to teachers before May 22, 2021 (including Level 1 and Level 2 pedagogical professional certificates), but only for teachers who have participated in teaching and educational contracts at general education institutions.
Currently, to participate in recruitment, teachers with a bachelor's degree in a field other than teaching must have a pedagogical training certificate as stipulated in Circular No. 11/2021/TT-BGDĐT dated April 5, 2021, issued by the Minister of Education and Training, promulgating the pedagogical training program for those with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field who wish to become primary school teachers (effective from May 22, 2021).
