On the morning of May 23rd, comrades Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Dang Thanh Giang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, inspected the preparations for the spring rice harvest in Dong Hung and Thai Thuy districts. Accompanying them were leaders from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the districts of Dong Hung and Thai Thuy.
Provincial leaders visited and assessed the productivity of the spring rice crop in Dong Phuong commune (Dong Hung district).
This spring, the entire province planted 75,019 hectares of rice. At this time, all rice crops are growing and developing well. In particular, early spring rice in districts such as Dong Hung and Hung Ha is beginning to be harvested, freeing up land for summer crops; the main spring rice crop is in the ripening stage. Farmers throughout the province will harvest the spring rice crop from June 5th to 15th. The expected yield is equal to or higher than the 2022 spring crop.
Assessing rice productivity and inspecting preparations for the spring rice harvest in Dong Phuong commune (Dong Hung district) and Thuy Ninh commune (Thai Thuy district), Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the efforts of the agricultural sector, especially in forecasting and directing pest and disease control work under difficult conditions during the spring crop season, with complex weather and pest outbreaks.
The comrade requested that localities and farmers take advantage of favorable weather conditions, mobilize maximum machinery and manpower to quickly and efficiently harvest ripe rice, especially in low-lying areas frequently affected by heavy rains; prepare the land immediately after harvesting; and proactively implement the summer crop production to ensure it adheres to the planting schedule. Localities should focus on directing and encouraging farmers to change their planting methods by applying tray seedlings and transplanting machines; expanding contiguous areas; and planning areas for planting the same rice variety to facilitate production and create large-scale concentrated commodity zones.
Provincial leaders visited a model of organic rice production linked to product consumption in Thuy Thanh commune.
On the morning of May 23rd, provincial leaders visited the Crop Research Institute of ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company in Dong Xa commune (Dong Hung district); and visited a model of organic rice production linked with product consumption in Thuy Thanh commune (Thai Thuy district) covering an area of 11 hectares.

Comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated ThaiBinh Seed's efforts in researching and developing new plant varieties. He also requested ThaiBinh Seed to continue researching and developing rice varieties and some key crops with high yield, quality, and stable market demand to enhance value and create stable outlets for rice production.
The comrade suggested that the agricultural sector summarize and evaluate the organic rice model in order to advise the province on solutions and policies to support the development of the model in the future.
