Built in the 17th century, Keo Pagoda (Duy Nhat Commune, Vu Thu District) is considered one of the most beautiful ancient pagodas in Vietnam. This summer, many families choose Keo Pagoda as a destination for their children, because they can both learn about cultural and historical values and experience the peaceful green space of Keo Pagoda.

Students of Dong Hoang Primary School (Dong Hung) visit Keo Pagoda in the summer of 2024.

This summer was a really interesting and special summer vacation for Pham Minh Quan, a 7th grader in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi. With no homework or extra classes, Quan was able to enjoy playing in Bach Thuan garden village - his paternal hometown - and especially, he was able to visit Keo Pagoda, a famous historical site in Thai Binh Province that he had only seen through the media.

“I was very surprised because all the frames and pillars of the pagoda here are made of very large ironwood, and they don’t need any nails but are still connected very firmly. I am very proud of Keo Pagoda. When I return to Hanoi, I will definitely tell my friends about my hometown Keo Pagoda,” Quan said.

Not only are there bustling amusement parks or crowded beaches, but the quiet, peaceful green space of Keo Pagoda is also an attractive destination, attracting many children during the summer days.

To Bao An, 10 years old, Le Hong Phong Primary School (Thai Binh City) shared: Every year, when I go to Keo Pagoda, I usually just visit, but this summer, I also got to experience many activities and games at Keo Pagoda, so I was very happy. I like going up the bell tower the most when I go to Keo Pagoda...

Bui Gia Khanh Huyen, 13 years old, Dong Dong Primary and Secondary School (Dong Hung) shared: This is the first time I have been to Keo Pagoda. Through the visit, I have improved my understanding of culture and history, admired my ancestors, and multiplied my love for my homeland and country in my heart.

Students were excited to learn about the architecture, cultural values and history of Keo Pagoda.

Keo Pagoda is one of the most famous historical sites in Thai Binh province, but up to now, many students in the province have not had the opportunity to visit and do not have much knowledge about Keo Pagoda. This is also the concern and motivation for the Creative Talent Tower Life Skills Center to innovate and attract children to Keo Pagoda.

Ms. Vu Hong Nhung, Training Director of the Center said: In addition to sightseeing activities, learning about the architecture, historical and cultural values of Keo Pagoda, we also organize activities and games such as the golden bell ringing competition, the fire-pulling competition to cook rice in the Keo Pagoda campus. The children were very excited to directly experience how to beg for rice, how to light a firewood stove to cook rice, through which they also understood more about the life and activities of local people from ancient times and the folk games at the Keo Pagoda festival.

The activity of experimenting with cooking rice with fire at Keo Pagoda created excitement and attracted many children to participate.

It is estimated that since the beginning of the year, Keo Pagoda has attracted nearly 5,000 tourists who are students from schools in the province to visit and experience, contributing positively to attracting and spreading people and tourists inside and outside the province to Keo Pagoda.

Mr. Do Ngoc Trung, Head of Keo Pagoda Relic Management Board, said: Currently, we are synchronously implementing solutions to attract students to visit and experience Keo Pagoda. Firstly, we are promoting the image of Keo Pagoda on digital platforms and social networks, thanks to which the number of followers has increased very quickly. In the coming time, we will coordinate with the education sector and schools in the whole province to introduce, connect and attract students to visit the relic. The Relic Management Board will also innovate the content of the reception program, organize exciting sightseeing and experience activities at Keo Pagoda to be more suitable for students' ages while still ensuring solemnity and educational value. Our goal is that Keo Pagoda - an ancient pagoda nearly 400 years old and a symbol and pride of Thai Binh land and people will become a destination to visit and experience at least once for every student in the province in the coming time.
