President of the Academy of Social Sciences becomes Vice President of the Central Theoretical Council

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Council of Theory attended the ceremony.

At the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang presented the Politburo's decision to Mr. Phan Chi Hieu. Accordingly, on October 11, on behalf of the Politburo, Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai signed Decision No. 1007 assigning and appointing Mr. Phan Chi Hieu, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, to hold the position of Vice President of the Central Theoretical Council for the 2021-2026 term.

Congratulating the new Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council for the 2021-2026 term, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang stated that the Politburo's assignment of Mr. Phan Chi Hieu to concurrently hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council for the 2021-2026 term, right on the occasion of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences' upcoming 70th anniversary, will create a new step in the development of the Institute.

Mr. Thang hopes that Mr. Phan Chi Hieu, with the resources of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and its long history and tradition, will continue to organize and mobilize all resources to effectively carry out its tasks as the leading social sciences and humanities research agency in the country, including political theory research, which is the construction of arguments to provide to the Party and the State in planning development guidelines, strategies and policies, especially focusing on summarizing 40 years of innovation and preparing to build documents for the 14th National Party Congress.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Phan Chi Hieu thanked the Party, the Politburo, and the Central Theoretical Council for entrusting him with the task and promised to make every effort to successfully complete the assigned tasks; hoping to continue to receive the attention, leadership, and direction of the Party and the close coordination of the Council members.

Mr. Phan Chi Hieu pledged to devote a lot of time, effort and intelligence to the work of the Council, to be open-minded and learn to quickly approach new tasks and to perform well the responsibilities and powers of a Council member and of Vice Chairman concurrently holding the position of Central Theoretical Council, and at the same time direct the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences to promote theoretical research activities, political theory, and coordinate smoothly and effectively with the Central Theoretical Council in performing assigned tasks.
