Mr. Matsuo Tomoyuki said that the delegation had recently visited many localities in Vietnam to survey and seek cooperation opportunities in the field of planting and processing endemic plants and typical culinary products of the regions. The delegation found that Lao Cai province has many suitable conditions in terms of climate, soil, and geographical location to develop buckwheat material areas and build a processing factory in Lao Cai with the goal of exporting 3,000 tons of buckwheat flowers per year.

In addition, the Japan - Vietnam Culinary Association plans to learn about pears in Lao Cai, from which to build a cooperation project with the desire to upgrade this fruit by improving quality, output, and growing areas. Currently, the Association is implementing Project 110 VN.love. This is a project connecting Vietnam and Japan by selecting a typical culinary product in each province and city of Vietnam and Japan to promote, introduce, and stimulate consumption. Speaking at the meeting, comrade Trinh Xuan Truong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, gave an overview of the socio-economic situation, potential and strengths of the province.
He said that the province's infrastructure connection is being gradually invested in synchronously. Lao Cai has many potentials and advantages for socio-economic development. With buckwheat, Lao Cai has many localities suitable for this crop. The province will arrange clean land to build a buckwheat processing factory. Lao Cai province hopes that the Association will provide advice and support to connect localities of Lao Cai and Japan with similarities in climate, soil conditions, and society to exchange and cooperate to create similar agricultural and tourism products.

In recent years, the number of Japanese tourists to Lao Cai accounts for a very small portion (about 0.85% of the total number of Japanese tourists to Vietnam), not meeting expectations.
