Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee works on implementing activities to adapt to regulations on not causing deforestation

Mr. Hoang Sy Bich - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment reported: Lam Dong province is currently cultivating over 176 thousand hectares of coffee, with an output of nearly 592 thousand tons per year. Of which, 89% of the output is exported, with 45% going to the EU market, reaching a turnover of over 200 million USD/year.

Working scene

In response to the European Union's request, the province has implemented an action plan with solutions for coffee production adapted to combating deforestation. To date, Lam Dong has implemented pilot models for sustainable coffee development in Di Linh; at the same time, implementing regional coffee development in association with other industrial crops such as rubber and wood in accordance with EUDR regulations; on that basis, implementing replication, ensuring sustainable production processes through traceability with coffee areas.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has directed departments and branches to develop detailed plans, ensure funding and production and processing processes for coffee that meet high quality standards and meet international markets.

In addition, he emphasized the importance of product traceability, building transparent databases and improving monitoring efficiency through technology for the anti-deforestation coffee development program in accordance with European Union regulations.
