
On the afternoon of April 10, comrade Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province worked with the Japanese AEON Group.
Also attending were leaders of the Department of Finance, Construction, Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, Hai Duong City People's Committee, and Hai Duong Electricity One Member Co., Ltd.
On behalf of AEON Group Japan, there were Mr. Yasuyuki Furusawa, General Director of AEON Global Retail, former General Director of AEON Group in Vietnam; Tezuka Daisuke, General Director of AEON Group in Vietnam; representatives of leaders and members of AEON Group in Vietnam attending the working session.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau expressed his joy when the leaders of Japan's AEON Group and the working delegation came to work in Hai Duong on the AEON Hai Duong Trade Center Project.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that currently, due to objective and subjective reasons, the project is behind schedule by about 1 month. However, up to now, the project has met all the conditions to start construction. He requested that in the coming time, AEON Vietnam focus on human resources, machinery and equipment, and organize the project construction to make up for the delay, striving to put the project into operation on schedule in the third quarter of 2026.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau requested AEON Group in Vietnam to use local materials and services during the construction of the project to create jobs for local workers, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.

In particular, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch No. 33/CD - TTg dated April 7, 2025; accordingly, important projects and large works will be scheduled to start construction simultaneously on April 19, 2025. Therefore, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau requested AEON Group in Vietnam to respond and organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the AEON Hai Duong Trade Center Project on April 19, 2025.
He hopes that when the project comes into operation, not only Hai Duong people will benefit but the province's products will be spread throughout the global AEON chain and reach out to the world market.
Mr. Yasuyuki Furusawa, General Director of AEON Global Retail, former General Director of AEON Group in Vietnam, said that the company clearly understands the importance of the project and the event on April 19 under the direction of the Prime Minister of Vietnam and wishes to soon introduce the project to the people of Hai Duong and the whole country. The group's representative hopes to continue to receive support from the leaders of Hai Duong province so that the project can soon start construction and come into operation. When AEON Hai Duong Trade Center comes into operation, it will be a bridge to bring local products further.

To date, Hai Duong province has about 600 foreign investment projects from 27 countries and territories, with a total capital of over 11.2 billion USD. Of these, there are 69 investment projects from Japan, with a total registered investment of over 1.7 billion USD, ranking 4th in terms of number of projects and 2nd in terms of investment capital, accounting for 11% of the number of FDI projects and 15.7% of the total registered investment capital.
The AEON Hai Duong Commercial Center project covers an area of 3.5 hectares in Lien Hong commune and Thach Khoi ward (Hai Duong city). The project has a total investment of VND 1,170 billion and a duration of 50 years. The project is expected to start construction in February 2025 and be completed and put into operation in the third quarter of 2026, but is currently behind schedule by more than 1 month.
