At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Thanh Do introduced an overview of the socio-economic development situation, strengths and potentials of Dien Bien province in various fields. In the first quarter of 2024, the province's GRDP is estimated to reach over 3,000 billion VND, an increase of more than 6% over the same period last year, ranking 4th out of 14 provinces in the Northern midland and mountainous region. Dien Bien province has successfully organized many activities within the framework of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien and towards the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory. In particular, Dien Bien Airport has been upgraded and resumed operations, creating favorable conditions for tourists to come to Dien Bien; in the first quarter of 2024, the number of tourists to Dien Bien increased by 1.46 times over the same period in 2023.
Representatives of the Northwestern Provinces Business Association congratulated Dien Bien province for successfully organizing many important events within the framework of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 and towards the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. At the same time, they expressed that the rotating conference of the Council of the Northwestern Provinces Business Association held in Dien Bien province is an opportunity for businesses to exchange, discuss and learn experiences in developing production and business in accordance with the potential and strengths of the locality.
On this occasion, the Association of Enterprises of the Northwest provinces handed over 2 gratitude houses with a total value of 500 million VND to 2 policy families, including: Mr. Nguyen Hai Dang, a 61% disabled veteran, residing in Group 4, Nam Thanh Ward (Dien Bien Phu City) and Ms. Lo Thi Huong residing in Chieng Tong Village, Thanh Yen Commune (Dien Bien District). The cost of building the houses was supported by the Association of Enterprises of the provinces of Son La, Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, and Lai Chau.
Also this afternoon, a delegation of the Northwestern Provinces Business Association came to offer incense and lay wreaths at the A1 Martyrs Cemetery.
