On the morning of May 14, Comrade Do Minh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, received Mr. Thomas Gass, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Vietnam and his delegation who visited and worked in Thanh Hoa. On behalf of the leaders of Thanh Hoa province, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan expressed his pleasure to welcome Ambassador Thomas Gass and the delegation of the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam to visit and work in Thanh Hoa.
Briefing Mr. Thomas Gass and the delegation members about the potential and unique advantages of Thanh Hoa, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan emphasized: Thanh Hoa is the gateway for trade between the Northern and North Central regions; is the province with the 5th largest natural area out of 63 provinces and cities in the country with over 11,000 km2 , and the 3rd largest population in the country, after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Thanh Hoa has a long-standing, unique culture with a heroic historical tradition, the birthplace and nurturing of many kings and lords of Vietnam. Thanh Hoa also has many cultural heritages, especially the World Cultural Heritage of the Ho Dynasty Citadel.
Thanh Hoa is also one of the few localities in the country that converges all three geographical regions (mountainous, delta and coastal), with a convenient transportation system, including all types of transportation, including many important national traffic axes and routes passing through. This is an extremely favorable condition for socio-economic development. In economic development, all sectors can be developed.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan said that in recent years, Thanh Hoa province has had strong and comprehensive development in all fields. Its economic scale ranks 8th in the country, and its economic growth rate is in the top 5 of the country.
With its potential, advantages and achievements, Thanh Hoa is striving to build an environment and an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that with his role, position and prestige, Ambassador Thomas Gass will actively support, introduce and act as a bridge for Swiss investors to come to Thanh Hoa to explore investment opportunities in areas where businesses and investors have strengths and Thanh Hoa province has needs. Thereby, contributing to promoting the diplomatic relationship between the two countries Vietnam - Switzerland that has been built and laid the foundation for over 50 years.
Currently, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has approved the investment policy of the staBOO Thanh Hoa OSB Bamboo Board Factory Project in Thiet Ong Commune (Ba Thuoc). The Swiss staBOO Holdings Company is the unit cooperating to invest in the construction of the project with an investment capital of about 3,200 billion VND. This is an important milestone and event contributing to further promoting the cooperation between Thanh Hoa and Swiss partners in the coming time.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan affirmed: Thanh Hoa Province will create the most favorable conditions and always accompany investors; first of all, in implementing the Thanh Hoa OSB staBOO Bamboo Board Factory Project in Thiet Ong Commune. Thereby, building trust, promoting the cooperative relationship between Switzerland and Vietnam as well as attracting Swiss investors to Thanh Hoa.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Vietnam Thomas Gass expressed his gratitude for the warm and respectful reception of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan and the leaders of Thanh Hoa province for the delegation. He also expressed his impression of the results achieved by the province in socio-economic development as well as the hospitality of Thanh Hoa people.
The Ambassador said that Switzerland is always among the countries with the highest innovation index in the world. Therefore, cooperation towards innovation, towards green and sustainable development is always the goal set by Swiss partners.
Ambassador Thomas Gass believes that with the attention and active support from Thanh Hoa province, the staBOO Thanh Hoa OSB Bamboo Board Factory Project in Thiet Ong commune (Ba Thuoc) will be successful in all aspects, creating a foundation for long-term cooperation in many other fields.
Ambassador Thomas Gass emphasized that the visit and meeting between the leaders of Switzerland and Vietnam at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos 2024 in January 2024 will open up many cooperation opportunities as well as affirm the increasingly sustainable development of the relationship between the two countries.
With his role and responsibility, Ambassador Thomas Gass affirmed that he will do his best to continue promoting the cooperation process between Switzerland and Vietnam in general and Thanh Hoa province in particular.
